Favorite Quote Friday #48

Happy Friday!  I hope you had a nice week.  For those in the storm's path, I hope you and your family and friends weathered it safely.

I have all kinds of Immortals Guardians news to share with you.  :-)  First, Phantom Shadows has received two wonderful reviews:
"Knowing your enemies is a key concern in the newest installment of Duvall's excellent Immortal Guardians series.  Vampires, and the virus that drive them insane, have been the primary threats that our heroes have been fighting, but there is a new player in town.  With this excellent entry, rising star Duvall is fast proving to be a major player in paranormal romance!"
– RT Book Reviews

"[Duvall's] characters have realistic and very human emotions, lending them significant relatability.  Duvall uses recurring characters from previous titles (Darkness Dawns; Night Reigns) to continue building her intriguing paranormal world with increasing flair and writerly skill."
– Publishers Weekly

Second, I have tentative release dates for the novella and Book 4.  The Predatory anthology that will include In Still Darkness and stories by Alexandra Ivy and Nina Bangs, is scheduled for release in May 2013.  Immortal Guardians Book 4 (as yet untitled) is scheduled for release in September 2013.

Third, I'm working on a series of four Phantom Shadows trailers.  I plan to post one per week every week leading up to the release, beginning on September 10th.  The first will be the shortest.  The last will be the longest.  I hope you'll like them!  :-)

It's time again for Favorite Quote Friday!  While editing In Still Darkness, I had to look something up in Night Reigns and read back through one of my favorite scenes.  Today's selection is a narrative quote taken from it that features Ami, the heroine:

Ami searched frantically for the gun they had confiscated, but didn't see it.  Grabbing one of her katanas, she raced for the trees in the direction opposite Sarah's departure.

Agonized screams and garbled cries of pain rode the breeze, nipping at her heels.

Only 31 days until the release of Phantom Shadows!!!

Have a great weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday #47

Hi, all!  I hope you had a good week.  I've been working on In Still Darkness and a little something else I'll share with you at a later date, so I haven't been able to spend much time at all online.  I hope my internet friends are doing well.  I miss chatting with you and keeping up with you on facebook and twitter.  For those who started back to school this week, I hope it went well!  :-)
I have Immortal Guardians news.  :-)
Kirsten Potter will be reading the Phantom Shadows audiobook.  Woohoo!  A lot of listeners have praised her renditions of the first two books and mentioned hoping she would read Phantom Shadows, too.  Production has been delayed just a bit, though, so the audiobook won't be released on October 2nd, when the paperback and ebooks are.  It will be released later in the month.  I'll let you know the exact date as soon as I learn it.
Also, I've been asked to write an article for LoveLetter magazine (distributed in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) to celebrate the German release of Darkness Dawns in October.  I'm very excited!
It's time again for Favorite Quote Friday!  Darkness Dawns has been replaying itself in my mind ever since I heard from the publisher of LoveLetter, so I thought I'd give a mini-excerpt from one of my favorite scenes in it.  Sarah, the heroine, has just had a very shocking introduction to the preternatural world and has narrowly escaped a large-scale vampire attack . . . or so she thinks.

Sarah’s whole body trembled. Her thoughts were scattered. Her actions driven solely by the need to get away. Fast. Too fast to navigate the bends and curves of the road safely, but she couldn’t bring herself to slow down. She turned on the high beams, hoping it would compensate for the lack of streetlights and let her see any deer that may have ambled onto the road in time to avoid hitting them.

Vampires, she thought hysterically.

Vampires were real.

And Roland was one of them.

The hood of the car abruptly buckled when a man seemingly dropped out of the sky and landed on it in a crouch.

Sarah screamed as the front of the car nosedived into the pavement. The air bag exploded into her face, slamming her head back into the headrest. The rear end of the car kept moving forward, tires squealing as the car spun around and came to a jarring halt facing the trees on the side of the road.

If Darkness Dawns is ever made into a movie, I think this scene will be the one I look forward to the most.  I would love to be on the set when they filmed it.  :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday #46

Happy Friday!  I hope you had a nice week and stayed cool.  It's been miserably hot here, with temps of 100 degrees or more in the shade.  Fortunately, I've been spending my days inside, writing, editing, and doing some film work (post production).
It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Richart has been on my mind a lot lately because he's the hero of In Still Darkness, the Immortal Guardians novella on which I'm working.  If you aren't familiar with my series, Richart is a French immortal who possesses the ability to teleport, something that comes in very handy during battle.   Today's selection, taken from Night Reigns, Book 2, gives a little hint of this:

Chaos rippled through the vampire army.  No longer so confident, the vamps began to divide their attention between fighting Marcus, Roland, and Ami and looking around wildly for the figure that kept appearing and disappearing in their midst like the Grim Reaper culling souls.

Battle scenes are such fun to write.  :-)

Favorite Quote Friday #45

Hi, all!  I hope you had a good week!  I've been reading through and editing In Still Darkness, the novella for the Predatory anthology, as well as working on Book 4.  Both are going well, I'm happy to report.  :-)

It's time again for Favorite Quote Friday.  Today's selection is taken from Darkness Dawns, the first book in my Immortal Guardians series.  It is spoken by Roland (the hero) to Marcus (the hero of Night Reigns):

“I don’t know their goal. I just know Sarah saved my life and is now caught in the middle, so we need to dispatch these a**holes as quickly as possible.”

Roland and Marcus and their heroines, Sarah and Ami, will all appear again in Phantom Shadows, whose release date is just 52 days away!!!!!

Just a reminder:  I'm holding two contests over at Goodreads:

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Today's selection is a narrative quote taken from Night Reigns, the second book in my Immortal Guardians series:

The immortals converged on him in a combined blur of motion, flowing like a ghostly tidal wave over broken furniture and sweeping him up in a maelstrom.

Because I couldn't resist, I thought I would also mention that there are less than 60 days until the release of Phantom Shadows!  Woohoo!  I can't wait!

Have a wonderful weekend!
