Phantom Embrace Releases Today!

It's release day!!  Phantom Embrace, which was previously published in the On the Hunt anthology, is now available for the first time as a solo novella!

Kindle  Nook  iTunes  Kobo
Only $1.99
“Duvall's hauntingly beautiful novella, set in the world of the Immortal Guardians, portrays the deep love between two people who can never touch, with a wonderfully unexpected ending.”
—Publishers Weekly
Born with the ability to see spirits, immortal Yuri Sokolov avoids making contact with them, because such has always yielded negative results . . . until lovely Cat Seddon begins haunting his home and his dreams. As a new threat rises against the Immortal Guardians, Yuri disregards all the rules so he can be with Cat, even though the consequences are substantial.
For centuries, Catherine Seddon has been alone. When her brother is forced to join the Immortal Guardians’ ranks, she haunts the primary home of the powerful warriors to keep an eye on him, and soon finds herself captivated by Yuri. The handsome Russian immortal swiftly banishes her loneliness as friendship grows between them and deepens into love. But can two people who can never touch find a future together?
If you're new to the series, don't worry.  All of the novels and novellas can be read as stand-alone stories.  You'll just be more familiar with the secondary characters' backgrounds if you read them in order.  :-)

I'll be celebrating the release with giveaways.  I plan to launch one today over on My Facebook Page.  The prize: a $15 Amazon Gift Card.

And don't forget to join me on my Phantom Embrace Blog tour for chances to win a $35 Amazon Gift Card, a $20 Amazon Gift Card, or signed copies of Night Unbound and Shadows Strike + swag.  :-)  You can find the schedule on my Blog Tours page.

Happy Reading!  I hope you'll enjoy Yuri and Cat's story!

And have a fantastic week!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Phantom Embrace will release on Tuesday.  So today I'll give you another peek into Yuri's story.
It was nice to be with a woman who, though three hundred years younger than he, was nevertheless nearer his age. A woman around whom he could be himself. A woman who wouldn’t wrinkle her nose and complain about him being old-fashioned.
She made him laugh. Often. Made him happy in a way he hadn’t thought he could be again. A perpetual smile seemed to touch his lips now. Even Dmitry had remarked upon it.
For the first time in a very long time, Yuri didn’t feel as though he only existed to hunt. His life, for centuries, could’ve been summed up as succinctly as the instructions on a shampoo bottle: Instead of wash, rinse, repeat, it had been hunt, sleep, repeat
But now he actually found himself wanting to put off falling asleep and looked forward to waking. Hunting and slaying vampires was no longer the center of his world. Cat was.
At last, he felt like he was living, not just going through the motions. And it felt good.
Have a wonderful weekend!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Phantom Embrace will release on June 28th.  That's the Immortal Guardians novella that tells Yuri and Cat's story (previously released in the On the Hunt anthology.)  So today I thought I would give you a mini excerpt that features the hero and heroine.  :-)
A belt circled his hips, equipped with several sheaths that held blades of various sizes. He unbuckled the belt and set it on a dresser behind him. “In all of the times you came to my room,” he said, his hands going to the button on his pants, “did you ever peek at me while I was in the shower?”
She shook her head, her gaze fastening on his hands.
“Did you want to?”
She nodded as he unbuttoned the button and drew down the zipper.
“Shall I turn the lights on then, or leave it dark?”
“Lights on,” was all she could squeeze out.
Taking two steps backward, he reached over and flipped a switch.
I'll be spending this weekend with Robert and Bethany, the hero and heroine of Rendezvous With Yesterday.  (Those two always make me laugh.)  :-)  I hope you'll have a great weekend, too!

Favorite Quote Friday #108—Phantom Embrace

Happy Friday!  The summer heat has kicked in fully here and driven away the thunderstorms, so we're finally drying out after two or three weeks of rain and flooding.  While avoiding the blinding sun (you know I prefer cloudy days) and triple-digit Feels Like temperatures, I've been getting a lot of work done on Rendezvous With Yesterday, The Gifted Ones Book 2.  I really love Robert and Bethany's story, and have laughed out loud several times while reading through it.  I hope you will, too.  :-)

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Less than two weeks to go until the June 28th release of my Immortal Guardians novella Phantom Embrace.  It tells the story of Yuri and Cat, and was previously released in the On the Hunt anthology.  Today, I thought I would give you another peek into its pages by sharing a snippet from a scene that features Yuri and fellow immortal Marcus (hero of Night Reigns).
“So,” Marcus said after a pause, “have you found it yet?”
“Found what?” Yuri asked absently, his mind a maelstrom.
“The catch.  The downside to speaking with her.”
Yuri responded with a slow nod.
“What is it?” Marcus asked curiously.
Yuri tried and failed to force a smile.  “I’m falling in love with her.”
Marcus swore.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday #107

Happy Friday!  I can't believe it's June already!  The summer is already flying by far too quickly.  :-)

Yesterday was my Indie Anniversary.  :-)  One year ago on June 2nd, I released my first self-published novel—A Sorceress of His Own, The Gifted Ones Book 1—becoming both an author and a publisher.  And I'm so glad I did!   Many of you have probably seen me say I consider A Sorceress of His Own the book that started it all for me, because it inspired me to write my Immortal Guardians series.   So it was such a thrill to finally hold a copy (and such a pretty copy, too) in my hands.  I will be indie publishing all of my novels from this point on.  Very exciting!!  Thank you so much for supporting me while I've taken this big step! You're the best!!!

Tantor Audio, which produces all of my audiobooks, is celebrating Audiobook Month in June with a big sale:  $6.99 Audio Downloads, $3.99 Bargain Bin CDs, and 50% off MP3-CDs.  If you'd like to stock up, now's the time to do it.  You can find my audiobooks HERE.  If you've never listened to an audiobook before, you can listen to a brief sample on each audiobook's page.  :-)

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Only three and a half weeks to go until the release of Phantom Embrace, Cat and Yuri's story.  So I thought today I would give you a narrative quote from it.
At last, he felt like he was living, not just going through the motions. And it felt good.
He felt good. He felt young again.
And Yuri suspected—hoped—Cat felt the same way.
If the centuries had seemed to pass slowly for Yuri, what the hell had it been like for Cat? At least Yuri had had his Seconds, Stanislav, and fellow immortals to take the edge off his loneliness. Hobbies to occupy his hands. Books to occupy his mind. Cat had had nothing. No books . . . and she so loved to read. No one to talk to. No one to even acknowledge her presence.
It broke his heart to think of it. So he made her laugh whenever he could and delighted in every smile he coaxed forth.
Have a wonderful weekend!
