The Lasaran Release Week

Happy Friday! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for making this such a fun, exciting, and awesome release week! I am so thrilled by your responses to The Lasaran and my new Aldebarian Alliance series! I was hoping you would like Taelon and Lisa's story. ๐Ÿ˜Š I admit I stayed up all night Monday night because some of you mentioned you were going to start reading it the moment the ebook hit your device and I couldn't wait to see your initial reactions pop up on Facebook. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you, audiobook lovers, for making The Lasaran an Audible Best Seller! Taelon and Lisa's audiobook hit #1 on multiple Audible/Amazon Best Seller lists, including the two shown above.

And the ebook lovers out there catapulted The Lasaran to the tops of multiple Amazon and other retailer Best Seller lists. Thank you, everyone who pre-ordered a copy or purchased a copy this week. Release Week sales are very important for authors, helping them hit bestseller lists and gain more exposure. The more sales and reviews a book receives, the more Amazon will share and recommend it to others, introducing it to new readers. ๐Ÿ˜Š

And the reviews...

Caffeinated Reviewer gave The Lasaran audiobook a fantastic 5-star review. You can read the full review HERE. This week has been so hectic that I just started listening to the audiobook myself last night and am really enjoying it. Kirsten Potter has done yet another stellar job of bringing the characters to life.

Book Dragon gave Taelon and Lisa's story a fabulous 5-star review, too. And equally awesome reviews have been rolling in. Here are a few from Amazon and/or Goodreads:

"Let me first state that I do not normally read sci-fi romance, so I was a little worried when I first heard about Dianne Duvall’s new series. Since I love her Immortal Guardians series, I gave this a chance, and boy am I glad that I did!!! I absolutely LOVED this book."
—Cynthia Trotman

"Just amazing. The characters are beautifully written being both memorable and engaging, the pace is swift and steady with nary a falter, and the overall arc of the story is sweeping, moving, and high octane. There's also plenty of humour to play counterpoint to the deeper and/or darker moments."
—Athena

"Tightly written, action packed, and with awesome character development, the author really outdid her previous great works with this one. Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe it!"
—LAM

"Again! Dianne Duvall has absolutely done it again. I loved this new world. Another laugh out loud, action packed book."
—Amazon Customer

"Whoa! Awesome book! More please! I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. Another Dianne Duvall literary masterpiece."
—Tiffany Nguyen

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Since I"m still celebrating Release Week, I thought I would share a brief excerpt of The Lasaran that features Taelon and Lisa (the hero and heroine):
_____________________________

“I would protect you with the last breath left in my body, Lisa.”

She believed him. Sliding her fingers into his hair, she drew his head down and claimed his lips in a longer, deeper kiss. His arms tightened around her. His tongue delved inside to stroke her own. Desire swept through her, heating her blood and driving her to fist his hair.

He groaned. And Lisa knew it wasn’t from pain this time, but need. He buried one hand in her hair and tilted her head so he could deepen the kiss even more. His other hand caressed her back and pressed her closer, reminding her that they were both naked.

What the hell was she doing?

She broke the kiss and stared up into emerald green.

Taelon affected her in ways no other man had.

“What are we doing?” she whispered.

A twinkle of mischief entered his eyes. “Breaking a number of Lasaran laws.”

Her lips twitched. “Aside from that.”

He shook his head. “I don’t know. I’m so drawn to you, Lisa.”

“I’m drawn to you, too.”

If you haven't read/listened to it yet, I hope you'll enjoy Taelon and Lisa's story. I really love these two together.

Many of those who have already read/listened to it have been asking when Book 2 will release. I don't have a release date yet, but I'm writing it now and am having a lot of fun with it.

Stay safe!

New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers the first novel in a thrilling new sci-fi romance series full of action, intrigue, humor, and happily-ever-afters.

Taelon searches the galaxy for his younger sister, who mysteriously disappeared while on a diplomatic mission. When an ally reveals that she was seized and is being held prisoner on Earth, Taelon descends upon the blue planet, intent on freeing her and exacting vengeance. However, all does not go as planned. Before he can find her, Taelon is captured and becomes the subject of torturous experiments. For what feels like an eternity, all he knows is pain and fury… until a mind tentatively touches his own and a woman’s voice forever changes his world.

After suffering tragic losses, Lisa is finally beginning to carve out a future for herself when chance sends her to the Anomalous Cognition Research Institute. What at first appears to be a benign organization seeking participants for a psychic study instead turns out to be a government facility harboring a much darker intent. Lisa discovers this too late and soon becomes the unwilling subject of a terrifying experiment. Just as fear and desperation threaten to consume her, a deep, compelling voice penetrates the looming insanity and lends her hope.

Having seen only the worst of humanity, Taelon is shocked when Lisa risks everything to free him. Together the two make their escape, and Taelon finds himself fascinated by the small human woman who—despite all she’s suffered—can still laugh and tease and lure smiles from him. Friendship swiftly grows between them as they work together to evade soldiers intent on capturing them and find themselves hunted by mystifying preternatural beings. Through it all, Lisa steadfastly remains by his side, stealing more of his heart each day while she helps him unravel the mystery of his sister’s fate. Can they find his sister before the hunters find them? If they survive their quest, will Taelon have to bid Lisa farewell… or can he coax her into leaving her planet and joining him for the adventure of a lifetime?

I always like to give you a peek into the pages on Release Day, so here's a brief excerpt of The Lasaran that features Taelon and Lisa:

Dipping his head, Taelon brushed his lips against hers in a light kiss. “Thank you.”

Her heartbeat picked up. “Thank you for protecting me,” she whispered. If he hadn’t been so intent on keeping her safe, he might’ve learned where his sister was.

Thank you, audiobook lovers, for making The Lasaran a #1 Audible Best Seller in Science Fiction Romance! My author copies of the audiobook (CDs) likely won't be available until after the Stay Home orders are lifted in Tantor's neck of the woods, so I admit I preordered it on Audible so I wouldn't have to wait to listen to it. ๐Ÿ˜„ Kirsten Potter is such a fantastic narrator.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! This week, I thought I'd share a snippet of a scene in The Lasaran that takes place before Taelon and Lisa (the hero and heroine) meet face to face for the first time. In it, Taelon is speaking to Lisa telepathically.
_____________________________

Until Taelon had touched upon her mind, he would’ve thought there were no Earthlings worth saving. If you tell me where you are, he vowed, I will come for you once I’ve secured my own freedom.

Another moment passed. I don’t know where I am. They still won’t let me leave my room.

Then I will search for you. If his mind cleared enough for him to read the thoughts and memories of everyone here, he would use those as his guide, find the woman, free her, and seek his sister. If I manage to escape with my life, I will find you.

If I manage to escape, the woman said softly, I’ll come for you, too. I’ll free you.

Those words and the kindness they bore—a kindness he had not experienced once since he’d been captured—nearly succeeded in doing what the butchers had failed to. They nearly made him weep. It had been so long since anyone had treated him like a person rather than a creature they could maim and study. What is your name?

Lisa. What’s yours?

Taelon.

Favorite Quote Friday—The Lasaran

Happy Friday! This week passed so quickly that I feel like I just said that three days ago. LOL. I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well. When I wasn't taking a few minutes to play in the rain and admire the supermoon, I spent most of my time busily preparing for the release of The Lasaran. Less than 2 weeks to go now. Wooooooooohoo!!

Speaking of which, I wanted to remind you that I'll be hosting Celebratory Giveaways on Facebook all the way through the end of release week. I've been doing weekly countdowns with Amazon Gift Card giveaways. I want so badly to give away some of my awesome new Lasaran swag (it's sooooo pretty), but we're under Stay Home Stay Safe orders here and have been asked not to go out unless it's absolutely necessary to in order to buy groceries or seek medical attention, and I'm trying to do my part. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Lisa considered Taelon's wound. She wished she could take him to a hospital and get him some real help. Shaking her head, she motioned for him to lean toward her. “I’m going to go ahead and do the mummy thing.”

She thought at first he would argue. After studying her for a moment, however, he dutifully leaned forward, away from the wall.

Grabbing some padded nonstick gauze patches, she asked him to hold them in place while she scooted closer and unrolled thinner gauze around and around him. “Thank you. I thought you were going to protest.”

He smiled and ducked his head to press a kiss to her neck. “I just wanted to feel your arms around me again.”

"Flirt," she said, hiding her worry with a smile. His wound was getting worse.

The Lasaran News, Favorite Quote & Giveaway

Happy Friday! I hope you and your loved ones and friends are safe and well. I've been busily preparing for the release of The Lasaran and penning posts for my blog tour. (I think the Character Interview will make you laugh. Sheldon was his usual outrageous self.) I admit it feels weird going about business as usual when so much is happening. But if you're like me, you could use a distraction. So hopefully I can provide you with one. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I have awesome news! The Lasaran is now available for pre-order on Audible. Woohoo!! I was so distracted by Sheldon that I didn't even realize it had popped up on Audible until a Facebook friend tagged me in a post. (Thank you, Debbie B.!) And it's already #2 on the Science Fiction Romance Bestseller List! You all rock!!

Less than three weeks to go until the big release!! I'm celebrating with another giveaway on Facebook and will choose a winner tonight (Friday night). I plan to have a giveaway every Tuesday leading up to and including release week, so keep an eye out for them. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I received a lot of comments, messages, and emails this week from readers who were dismayed that they were just hearing that I have a new book releasing this month. Some have asked what they can do to ensure they don't miss any releases in the future, so here are some things you can do:

1—If you aren't already a subscriber, you can subscribe to my blog so book news will be delivered right to your inbox.

2—You can follow me on BookBub. I almost always have them send Pre-Order and New Release alerts for my books.

3—You can follow me on Amazon. Amazon will send you an email alerting you to new releases, but sometimes there's a delay of a week or two.

4—You can join my Dianne Duvall Books Group if you're on Facebook. I always share book news in the group and just plain enjoy hanging out in there. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I love it!! I even bought stickers this time. (That's the square thing in the front.) I'm pretty sure some of those will soon adorn my electronic devices. LOL.

“Your face is pink again.”

The heat in her cheeks intensified. “I know. I can’t help it. As I said, I’m not an exhibitionist. And we’re both sitting here naked.”

His smile turned roguish. “I like you naked.”

She laughed. “Ditto.”

“I’m beginning to understand the definition of that word,” he said on a laugh.
