Anniversary & Favorite Quote Friday

Happy Friday! I realized today that this week marked the tenth anniversary of the release of my first book, Darkness Dawns: Immortal Guardians Book 1

There are now 10 novels and 2 novellas in my Immortal Guardians series, 2 novels in The Gifted Ones series, and I just released the 2nd book in my exciting new Aldebarian Alliance series. And every story is available in audio format as well. What a wonderful ride it's been. I can't wait to see where the next ten years will take me. :-)

I have been absolutely blown away by your responses to The Segonian. This is the first time one of my books has received over 700 ratings in just the first two weeks of its release. That is amazing!! Thank you so much!

Totally Addicted to Reading gave The Segonian a fantastic review.

Here's another quote from it:

"Spending time with Eliana proved a delightful experience... She was courageous, resourceful, strong, honest, outspoken and knows how to roll with the punches. Several times throughout the story she had me laughing out loud. I enjoyed her interactions with Dagon and his crew members."

Flora's Musings gave it a wonderful review, too.

Here's another quote from it:

"A Stellar Adventure In This Sci-fi Romance Series.
I’m already a big fan of Dianne Duvall’s books but sci-fi is not my usual reading genre. However, I love Dianne’s writing style, the language she uses and the way she paces her plots.
I was drawn into this story and remained hooked throughout.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Today I thought I would share a moment of levity in an action-packed scene from The Segonian:
____________________________

She raced for the closed door that led to the rest of the ship, trusting Dagon and the guys to take out whoever was left.

“Grenade, Eliana,” Dagon warned, his voice coming over the comm seconds before an e-grenade sailed past her shoulder.

It detonated as it hit the door.

Flames and sparks and hot air rushed toward her, but didn’t slow her at all as the grenade he’d lobbed blasted a substantial hole in the door.

“Thanks, babe,” she called as she dove through it.

A throat cleared. “Did she just call our commander babe?”

“Shut up,” Dagon retorted.

She laughed. “Would you like me to call him sugarboo instead?”

Srul, yes,” Maarev responded as snickers carried over the comm.

More reviews have been rolling in for The Segonian. And I could not be more pleased. I'm so glad you're enjoying Eliana and Dagon's story! I love that so many readers who admit they don't usually like sci-fi or alien romances are enjoying it, too. Here are just a few of the fantastic reviews I've seen for The Segonian:

I'm a Voracious Reader gave it a fantastic review.

Here's another quote from it:

"I truly feel as if I sound like a broken record when I say how much I love Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardian world. And now she has added the Aldebarian Alliance series to it. All I can say is, Hot damn! Talk about mashing genres! Paranormal, romance, and sci-fi, Oh MY! Add humor, action, and some steamy nomminess and you get a dish that is more delicious than anything you could possibly ask for or want."

And Jeri's Book Attic gave it a wonderful review, too.

Here's another quote from it:

"[Dianne Duvall] can literally write about anything. She created the World around the Immortal Guardians, then the two historical romances about the Gifted Ones. FANTASTIC! I really love historical romances, so these two were perfect in every way. And now the SiFi-Romances. I never imagined that I would read a story that takes place on a spaceship. Only Dianne Duvall can do that. And what a story that was..."

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Today I thought I would share another snippet that features Eliana and Dagon. I'll preface it by mentioning that Adaos is the Chief Medical Officer on the Segonian battleship Ranasura:
____________________________

“I told Adaos he could study me and I would share everything I know about the virus and my species with him if he would share something with me,” Eliana admitted.

Dagon crossed his arms over his chest. “And what might that be?”

Pink crept up her neck and filled her cheeks as she shuffled her feet, looking sheepish as srul, and muttered something he couldn’t hear.

“What?”

Emitting a growl of her own, she spoke louder. “Information on Segonian courtship rituals and the societal do's and don'ts that surround them." She peeked up at him through long dark lashes as though trying to gauge his reaction.

Everything within him went still. “Segonian courtship rituals?” he repeated softly. “Why would you wish to know more about that?”

She sighed. “Because I couldn’t find anything about it in your informational databases, and I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.” Reaching up, she rested her small hands on his stubbled cheeks, then rose onto her toes and drew him down for a kiss.

His heart stuttered to a halt, then began to slam against his ribs. The first gentle brush of her lips hit him like an electrical current. His breath caught. Hers did, too. She drew back a fraction to stare up at him with wide eyes that acquired an amber glow.

Then Dagon slid his arms around her and locked her against him. Dipping his head, he claimed her lips with greater urgency, letting her feel the heat that had been flaying him inside ever since she had walked onto his bridge, fully recovered from her wounds, and drawn him into a hug.
____________________________

I'm so incredibly thrilled that my voyage into space is making so many readers and audiobooklovers laugh and cheer for these two. They were such a fun couple to write.

If you haven't read or listened to it yet, I hope you'll enjoy Eliana and Dagon's story!

Take care and happy reading!

News, Reviews, & Favorite Quote Friday

Happy Friday!  The first week of 2017 has been a productive one for me, as was the last week of 2016.  I’m loving Aidan’s book (Immortal Guardians Book 7).  I think Aidan and his heroine have made me laugh as much as Ethan and Heather did in Shadows Strike.  :-)

I also got an idea for what I think will be a great Immortal Guardians novella.  And this time, since I’m not going to traditionally publish it, I won’t have to adhere to a word count.  For the first two, I was given a word count limit of 20,000—25,000 words (or 80–100 manuscript pages), which I admit I exceeded both times.  LOL!  But now there will be no limits, so I’m even more eager to write it.

I’ll keep you in suspense as far as who the hero will be.  And for those who have already begun asking, I intend to finish Aidan's book first.  I don’t like to work on two projects at once, so—once I start one—I keep going until I finish it.  :-)

I also received more good news from Kimberly at The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  A Sorceress of His Own made her Top Ten Romances of 2016 list.  Woohoo!!  Here's what she had to say:

"I loved this tale from the setting to the characters.  Duvall is an auto-buy for me.  Dillon and Alyssa are one couple you'll want to spend time with."

You can read her full review HERE.

If you don't have a business page on Facebook, then you may not know that Facebook is letting fewer and fewer of the people who like an author/business page see that page's posts in their feed.  So I've begun to post links here to some of my posts for those who may have missed them.  :-)  Here are the most popular recent posts:

I also thought I'd kick off the new year with a giveaway this weekend over on Facebook.  You can find it on My Author Page.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Since A Sorceress of His Own was on my mind a lot this week, I thought I would share a narrative quote from it today:
His eyes returned to her face, taking in every detail of her features, struggling to come to terms with the fact that this lovely young woman was the same treasured friend and companion who had been by his side for the past seven years.  The same one who had seen through his formidable facade to the quiet man beneath.  Who had advised him so wisely, never once thinking him weak for seeking her counsel.  Who had argued with him, challenged him, comforted him, brought laughter into his life, and been there for him in so many ways.
The wisewoman had possessed every quality he desired in a bride save youth.
Now she possessed that, too.
Have a wonderful weekend!  And stay warm.  It looks like it may be a chilly one for many of us.  Perfect weather for curling up with a good book in front of a crackling fire.  :-)

Favorite Quote Friday—A Sorceress of His Own

Happy Friday!  We've had the most wonderful dark, rainy, thunder rumbly, chilly days here.  Perfect writing weather!  :-)  And speaking of writing . . .

I've been getting a lot of emails and messages from readers, asking me if there will be any more books in my Immortal Guardians series.  I've mentioned it here and on Facebook.  But if you missed the posts . . .

There will definitely be more Immortal Guardians books.  I'm having far too much fun with this series to end it anytime soon.  Aidan's book—Book 7—is up next.  I'm working on it now and am having a lot of fun with it.  I'm thinking it will release in Summer 2017 or thereabouts.  I'll let you know the exact release date as soon as I have it.  More books will follow.  I don't know how many, because I'm a pantser, not a plotter.  But I do know that Seth's book won't end the series.  It will only end this particular series arc, then another will begin.  :-)

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  I've heard from so many readers who enjoyed seeing Dillon and Alyssa again in Rendezvous with Yesterday   So I thought today I would share a brief excerpt from A Sorceress of His Own that features them:
__________________________

“You are staring, Dillon.”

Blinking, he realized he had indeed been staring.

A flush of uncertainty painted her features.

He smiled and closed the distance between them.  “Forgive me.  I was merely committing your beauty to memory ere you hide it beneath this.”  Reaching up, he helped her tug the black robe down over her head.

Her color deepened.  “You flatter me.”

“I speak the truth.”  Dillon clasped the lowered cowl loosely in both hands, one on either side of her face.  Her pale skin provided stark contrast to the midnight material.  Her glossy raven hair had been tamed into a single braid, accompanied by so much muttering and grumbling that he had chuckled as he stopped to watch her wrestle with it.  Her full lips were still rosy and slightly swollen from his kisses.

So much warmth and understanding filled her gaze as she stood staring up at him that he wanted to crush her to him and never let her go.

“Dillon?”  She waited for him to raise the hood into place.

“I cannot,” he murmured, unmoving.  He should feel some guilt, he supposed, for the main motivation of his refusal appeared to be greed.

He was greedy for the sight of her.  Every smile, every twitch or purse of her lips.  Every blink of her entrancing brown eyes.  Every flicker of her long lashes.  Every rising, falling, and drawing together of her sculpted eyebrows.  Every crinkling of her forehead.  Every wrinkling of her nose.

How could he bear to have it hidden from him again now that he knew all that he would be missing?

Even more unthinkable… once she raised the cowl, would Alyssa slip back into her role of advisor and forget all that they had shared?

Her hands came up to clasp his wrists.  “You know this is how it must be.”

“For now,” he conceded with reluctance.

She shook her head, eyes full of regret.  “For always.”

Nay.  That he would not, could not accept.  Leaning down, he pressed a quick, hard kiss to her lips, then drew the hood up to shield her face.

“We shall speak more of this later,” he intoned and led her from the solar.

Have a wonderful weekend!  I'll be spending mine with Aidan and his ladylove.  :-)
