Favorite Quote Friday #34

Happy Friday!  This week really flew past, but it was a great one!  :-) How was yours?  Anyone on vacation yet?  Heading for the beach? Kicking back and watching zombie movie marathons?  (Yes, I am a zombie movie fiend.)   I'm still working on Phantom Shadows proofs, but am confident I'll finish before the deadline.  Carefully scrutinizing every word and punctuation mark in a 108,000-word manuscript, looking for any errors we may have missed during edits and copyedits can simply be slow going.   :-)

I have some very exciting news to share with you.  I'm going to write an Immortal Guardians novella that will appear in an anthology alongside novellas by Alexandra Ivy and Nina Bangs!  Woohoo!  I'm so excited!!!

I also took a trip over to Amazon.de and found this:

The German cover of Darkness Dawns!
Ausgezeichnet!

Love it!  Love it!  Love it!  It will be released in Germany in October 2012.  Ich hoffe, die Leser werden es mögen!  :-)

It's time again for Favorite Quote Friday.  I've been enjoying Marcus and Ami's roles in Phantom Shadows so much as I read through it that, for today's selection, I thought I would choose a quote from Night Reigns (Immortal Guardians Book 2) in which Marcus, the hero, addresses Ami, the heroine:

Marcus, looking rumpled, gaped up at her from a dozen or so yards away.  "Are you insane?" he bellowed after a long moment.

“I don’t think so,” she answered honestly.  Seth, David, and Darnell had all assured her she wasn’t.  But there were moments she questioned their judgement.

If you've read Darkness Dawns and Night Reigns, I can't wait for you to see these two again in Phantom Shadows!  :-)

Have a great weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday #33

Happy Friday!  How was your week?  Mine passed very quickly.  I never realize how much time I spend online on facebook, twitter, my blog, etc. until I have to severely limit it . . . as I did this past week.  I've been working on Phantom Shadows proofs and have a tight deadline.  In order to work on that and get some writing in on Book 4, I had to sacrifice internet time, so I missed all of my online friends.  :-(

Update
Brenda Novak Auction
I have an update for you.  First, for newcomers, a recap:  The Brenda Novak Annual Auction for the Cure of Diabetes is under way.  Bidding will continue through May 31st.  I've donated an Immortal Guardians package:
  • 1 signed copy of Darkness Dawns
  • 1 signed copy of Night Reigns
  • Immortal Guardians swag (cover flats, postcards, bookmarks, mini-bookmarks).
Now the new stuff:  Danita, one of the auction volunteers, has informed me that they've added two new features to this year’s auction.  They know that there are some shoppers who are unable to bid on items but do want to contribute to the cause, so they added a store which will allow shoppers to purchase items with the proceeds going towards the auction.  The link to it is http://www.cafepress.com/brendanovaksonlinediabetesauction.  They also added a blog that provides updates on the auction, items that are currently being spotlighted, and much more.  The link to visit is http://bnauctionblog.tumblr.com/.

The auction will have a final Twitter Party on May 27, 2012 at 1:00 PM PST, hosted by Julie Rowe from Carina Press.  It will last until 2:00 PM PST. One lucky tweeter who uses the hashtag #bnda during the hour will receive a $50 Amazon Gift Card. Be sure to follow @bnovakauction to be part of the Twitter Party.  :-)

And now it's time again for Favorite Quote Friday.  Since Bastien remains in the forefront of my mind, I thought I would give a quote from Darkness Dawns (Immortal Guardians Book 1) in which Bastien speaks to Sarah, the heroine:

“Apparently your immortal friends didn’t bother to tell you that shooting vampires doesn’t kill us.” His lips pulled back from sharp fangs, igniting fear within her. “It only pisses us off!”

Bastien's past is a complicated one.  ;-)

Have a great weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday #32

Happy Friday!  How was your week?  I've been working on my website, redesigning it and updating it.  I hope to finish it this weekend and will let you know if I do.  :-)  I also composed a guest post for Coffee Time Romance's big Anniversary Extravaganza tomorrow.
Coffee Time Romance Anniversary
Romance, Fantasy, and Science Fiction, oh my! Coffee Time Romance is turning eight, and some of our favorite authors are walking down memory lane with us. Along the way, they’ll be giving away books, book, and more books. (Did we mention books?) And one lucky winner will win a Nook!

I will be posting on Coffee Time Romance's Coffee Thoughts, The Blog in the morning and will give away the winner's choice of either a signed copy of Darkness Dawns or a signed copy of Night Reigns + Immortal Guardians swag.  The theme for my post will be Then and Now, where I was with my writing career in 2004 and how it led me to where I am now.  I hope you'll drop by!

And now it's time again for Favorite Quote Friday.  Today I've chosen a narrative quote from my latest release, Night Reigns, that is told from the perspective of Marcus, the hero:

He liked the way she walked. Though small, she didn’t take mincing little steps. Nor did she engage in a lot of contrived hip swaying. No, with Ami there were only long, strong, purposeful strides that triggered some long dormant predatory desire in him to follow after her and pounce.

Marcus frowned. Where the hell had that thought come from?

:-)  Thanks so much for joining me!  Have a great weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday #31

Happy Friday, everyone!  How was your week?  Good, I hope.  Mine was busy as usual.  I'm pleased with the progress I'm making on Book 4 in my Immortal Guardians series.  :-)  Every chance I can get, I've been working on a new design for my website, too.  I hope to unveil that sometime this month and have been creating some cool Wallpapers for the Free Stuff section.  I hope you'll like them.  :-)
I'll be mailing some more winner packages today.  I always love putting those together and was particularly excited this time because I just received my first batch of Phantom Shadows swag to include in them.  Woohoo!

Just a reminder:  The Brenda Novak Annual Auction for the Cure of Diabetes is now underway.  I've donated an Immortal Guardians package:
  • 1 signed copy of Darkness Dawns
  • 1 signed copy of Night Reigns
  • Immortal Guardians swag (cover flats, postcards, bookmarks, mini-bookmarks).
Bidding will continue through may 31st.
It's time again for Favorite Quote Friday.  Bastien, the hero of Phantom Shadows, has been on my mind so much lately as I eagerly anticipate his book's release.  So, for this week's selection, I have chosen a narrative quote from Darkness Dawns in which Sarah, the heroine, sees Bastien for the first time:

As Sarah completed her visual inventory, an eighth figure materialized from the darkness and moved to stand in front of the others, who fanned out in a loose horseshoe around him.

She swallowed.

This man was almost as scary as Roland when Roland was at his most intimidating.

He was tall, an inch or two above six feet, with shoulder-length black hair. His taught, muscled body was clad in black jeans and a black T-shirt, his broad shoulders encased in a long black coat. His face was clean-shaven. His jaw strong.

He would be quite handsome if he didn’t give her a major case of the creepin’ willies.

Thanks so much for joining me!  Have a wonderful weekend!
