It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  For today's selection, I've chosen a narrative quote from my recent release Shadows Strike.  For those who aren't familiar with it, Heather is the mortal heroine and Ethan is the immortal hero.
Heather felt honored to sit at a table with such powerful immortal warriors.  It seemed so surreal, like sitting down to chat with a bunch of superheroes, only these guys—and gals—didn't wear colorful tights.  They wore black to conceal the blood they would spill later in the night when they hunted.
A sobering thought.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday

Happy Friday!  How was your week?  We've been having fun over on Facebook, imagining my Immortal Guardians dressed up in Halloween costumes.  :-)

And, speaking of Halloween . . . Are you looking for some good books to put you in the Halloween spirit? Well, Barnes and Noble is running a cool Halloween promotion, recommending horror, sci-fi/fantasy, and kids and teens books, some of which are discounted up to 70%.  I was thrilled to see that they've included one of my latest releases, A Sorceress of His Own.  :-)

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Étienne and Krysta have been on my mind a lot this week.  :-)  Instead of contemplating my Immortal Guardians dream cast, I found myself thinking how much I would love for Michael Bay to produce and direct if my Immortal Guardians books were made into movies or a TV series.  And the first scene that came to mind as I imagined it was the big climactic battle scene in Darkness Rises.  So, for today's selection, I thought I would share a brief snippet of it:
The helicopter began to move away, strafing the yard with machine gun fire.
Krysta veered toward a Humvee, jumped onto the hood and, without slowing, leaped into the air.
Étienne nearly dropped dead of a f***ing heart attack as he watched her fly through the air and dive through a side door, tackling one of the door gunners.
I love that scene.  :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

It' time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  For today's selection, I thought I would give you another peek into the pages of Shadows Strike, Ethan and Heather's story:
“Your eyes are glowing again,” she whispered.
He swore and brought a hand to them as if he could rub the damned luminescence out of them.  “I’m sorry.  I had a fleeting image of lying in bed with you and . . .”
“Oh.”  Her tone reflected surprise and he couldn’t decided what else.
“I know.  But I promise I’m not a total degenerate.  I’m just tired and seem to have no control over my body when I’m around you.”  Lowering his hand, he forced himself to meet her gaze and almost did a double take.
A wide smile brightened her features.  “That is so cool.”
He arched a brow.  “What is?”
“I don’t have to guess if you’re attracted to me because it’s all right there in your eyes.  And I don’t mean in a corny chick flick kind of way.  But in a Bam! in-your-face kind of way.  It’s like a sexual barometer or a mood ring.”
He laughed.
Have a wonderful weekend!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  I heard from several readers this week who have been enjoying A Sorceress of His Own on audiobook.  (Audiobooks sure come in handy when you just can't find time to sit down and read or have a long commute to and from work.)  So I thought, for today's selection, I would give you a mini-excerpt from it.  If this is your first time hearing about it, I'll preface the quote with a brief blurb:

Born with extraordinary gifts that label her a sorceress, Alyssa is forced to conceal her youth and the love she harbors for Lord Dillon beneath umbral robes that lead him and his people to believe she is the same aged wise woman who served his father.  All is revealed, however, and passion soon flares when an enemy threatens Dillon's life and Alyssa sacrifices everything to save him.

Dillon’s expression sobered.  His cerulean eyes turned watchful.  “Am I different with you, Alyssa?”

The sound of her name falling so smoothly from his lips after so many years should not inspire this depth of pleasure.  Swallowing nervously, she wished now that she had held her tongue.  “You know that you are.”

“In what way?”  His gaze swept her hidden form.  His voice deepened, turned husky.  “Tell me.”

Alyssa’s heart hammered beneath her breast.  What was he doing to her?  With just a look… such a look… he peeled away her exterior and threatened to expose all of her hidden desires.

“In this way,” she managed to say, heart pounding.  “The way you look at me.”  As though you are a starving wolfhound and I a choice bit of venison that has fallen at your feet.

“I thought you gray-haired and wrinkled beneath your robes.  Yet, here you are, younger than myself by several summers unless I miss my guess.  To discover such exquisite beauty…  ’Tis not surprising that I look at you differently.”  Still reclining on one elbow, he leaned forward and, with his free hand, brushed his fingers across her forehead, traced the arch of one brow and trailed down her temple to her cheek.

Images stirred in her mind.  Erotic images that stole her breath and began a flash fire in her body.

Dillon drawing back the blankets, baring her body to his heated gaze.

Dillon’s hands and mouth touching her in the most shocking places.

His clothing miraculously vanishing as he lowered his body to hers.

Favorite Quote Friday & a Halloween Giveaway

Happy Friday!  I think (and hope rather desperately) that we're actually going to have slightly cooler temperatures this weekend.  Hooray!  Nothing that will make the leaves change color.  But I'll take what I can get and pretend Autumn temps are just around the corner . . . which puts me in a Halloween frame of mind.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  I want to thank you again, everyone who has rated or reviewed Shadows Strike.  I'm so glad you're enjoying Ethan and Heather's story.  And I love, too, that so many of you are rooting for Cliff.  :-)  For today's selection, I thought I would give you another glimpse of Ethan and Heather together:
She eyed the small duffle bag he carried.  "That had better not contain duct tape, rope, and a scalpel."
He grinned.  "I'm not a serial killer, Heather.  This is just my first aid kit."
Have a wonderful weekend!
