News, Reviews & Giveaway

Happy Friday!  I hope you all had a nice week. :-)

I have some fun news to share with you.  I've finished Immortal Guardians Book 7!  Woohoo!!  Aidan's book is in the hands of my editor.  I really like it and hope you will, too.  I should have a solid release date for you soon.  Until then . . . If all goes well, it will likely release in mid-September.  :-)

Some great reviews have been rolling in for Rendezvous with Yesterday, The Gifted Ones Book 2.

The Romance Reviews has declared Rendezvous with Yesterday (The Gifted Ones Book 2) a Top Pick and gave it a fabulous review!  Here's a snippet:

"I loved this book! It had pretty much all of my favorite things--medieval times, a kick-ass heroine, a protective hero, magic, and a dash of mayhem. The plot was steadily filled with one twist after another but never felt as if it were too busy. There was plenty of downtime in which to get to know our characters. And there were several of them."

Bethany was a courageous and quick-witted woman who didn't have much of a filter on her mouth. It was amusing to see the reactions of the people around her when she would spout off things they had absolutely no idea about. It took her a while to come to terms with her situation but her budding relationship with Robert was a delight to witness.

Robert was another highlight of the story. He was kind, loyal, and inquisitive. I was surprised by how easily he accepted Beth's odd behavior but I also loved his dedication to her. His men brought a lot of humor to the book, as well. I can't count the number of times I laughed at one of the knights, especially as they marveled over Beth's futuristic items. Hilarious.

In closing...
A fun time-traveling romp in the medieval hay! Five stars!

Rabid Reads gave Rendezvous with Yesterday fantastic review, too.  Here's a snippet:

"Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians series is on my list of favorite paranormal romance/urban fantasy series. When I eventually decided to read her historical paranormal romances, I pretty much kicked myself for not reading them as soon as they came out. They are every bit as good as her Immortal Guardians, and that is saying something!"

"I highly recommend this book to adult readers of paranormal romance or historical romance. It’s time travel, but it also has some special abilities that are involved as well. Fantastic read!"

You can read the full review HERE.

To celebrate finishing Aidan's book, I'm giving away a signed copy of its predecessor—Shadows Strike, Immortal Guardians Book 6—plus an Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones Swag Pack over on my Facebook page this weekend.  I hope you'll hop over and join the fun!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  I'm reading back through Aidan's book now, finding favorite quotes and excerpts to share with you.  Until then, here's a fun excerpt of Rendezvous with Yesterday, The Gifted Ones Book 2, that features Robert and Bethany (the hero and heroine):
_______________________________________

Chuckling, he tipped her chin up with one finger.  “You think me a mere apparition conjured by a broken mind?”

She nodded miserably and bit her lip again, drawing his gaze to it.

His pulse leapt.  “Then I suppose I shall have to prove otherwise.”

She was mid-hiccup when he dipped his head and touched his lips to hers.  He meant it to be a brief kiss, as light as a breeze.  But lightning struck.

At least, that was how it felt.

One tiny taste and sizzling heat arced through his veins, robbing him of his will and coaxing him to deepen the contact.

Beth froze in his arms, her only movement the erratic lifting of her breasts against his chest by residual sobs, and the softening of her full, pink lips.

Then she tentatively returned the gentle pressure.

And he was lost.

Combing his fingers through her soft, fragrant hair, Robert cupped the back of her head, tilting it to allow him greater access.  He splayed his other hand across her back, urging her closer until her body was flush against his own.  She tasted so good.  As good as she had in his dreams last night.  Heated, erotic fantasies that had led him to fondle her sweet curves in his sleep and awaken hard and longing to fulfill every one.

Her hands crept up his chest, slid over his shoulders, and dove into his hair.

Heart racing, Robert drew his tongue across the seam of her lips.

They parted on another gasp.

Groaning, he took swift advantage and delved within, exploring, caressing, stroking, and inflaming.

She moaned in response and rose onto her toes, sinking fully into him as her tongue dueled with his own.

Robert felt his control begin to slip and fought the need to slide his hands down those formfitting breeches, cup the bottom that had been rubbing against him, and grind her hard against his arousal.

A sensual shudder shook him.

Or, better yet, lift her up so she could wrap her legs around him and cradle him in between.

Dragging his lips from hers, he clutched her tightly for several heart-pounding seconds, then forced himself to relax his hold.

Both were breathless.

He leaned back just enough to look down at her.  Tears no longer fell, he was pleased to see.  Instead desire lit the eyes she raised to meet his own.

“Would an apparition do that?” he inquired, voice husky, already regretting the moment he would have to release her.

Her lips tilted up in a ghost of a smile.  “Probably.  But not half so well.  My imagination isn’t that vivid.”

He laughed.

Catching Up

Greetings, all, and Happy Friday!  What a busy month this has been.  :-)  I'm very excited about how well Aidan's book is coming along.  I'm so glad I'm a pantser (a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants writer) instead of a plotter (someone who meticulously outlines each chapter of the book before writing it).  When I just let the writing take me where it will, things tend to happen that surprise even me.  And every once in a while, something will happen that unexpectedly ties in perfectly with an event that took place in Book 1, 2 or 3, as if it's just been sitting in the back of my subconscious, waiting for the right time to leap forward and take center stage.  I love that.

Congratulations to the winers of my four contests in The Romance Reviews' month-long 6th Anniversary Party:

Angeles G.
Samantha H.
Patricia P.
Tiana S.

I hope everyone who attended found exciting new reads, some new favorite authors, and won fun prizes.  :-)  I'm going to be participating in another multi-author event on Facebook next month and am looking forward to it.  I'll tell you more once I have all of the details.

The IRC (Indie Romance Convention) is now accepting Readers' Choice nominations for indie books published in 2016. If you enjoyed Rendezvous with Yesterday, I would appreciate it so much if you'd take a moment to nominate it.  (Time Travel Romance is the best category. Historical Romance is a second choice.)  You can do so HERE.

There are a LOT of categories, so if you'd like to show your support for other indie authors, too, I'm sure they'd appreciate it. :-)

I was thrilled to discover that Book Munchies gave Rendezvous with Yesterday (The Gifted Ones Book 2) a fantastic review:

(You can read the full review here.)

And more reviews have rolled in for Rendezvous with Yesterday on Amazon.  Here are some of the latest:

"Unbelievably WOW! I read this book at least twice and listened to the audio at least 4 times. I love this book. I did not realize that I forgot to put in a review. This is a well written story with a good plot that is so entertaining it just keeps you glued to the kindle. I cried, laughed and cheered. . . Excellent standalone. Excellent book."
—GSKM

"Wow and Wow again! I don't usually write reviews. With this book I felt that I had to. This is the best time travel book I have read so far. Well written, good historical research and modern day research too. Your characters, written words , and descriptions are so clear that I had trouble putting down this book and was sad when it ended."
—Kindle Customer

"I loved this story! I love learning about Beth after learning about her in Marcus' book! It was so cool to see him as he was and see the love of Beth and Robert. I laughed and cried during this story."
—Andi

"I so enjoyed reading about Robert and Bethany! I was very curious about their story when I read the Immortal guardian series. Big fan of Dianne Duvall's work and look forward to read more about Seth and David."
—Vampire lover

"I loved this book and even the extra at the end! The plot was great and characters were fantastic. Im definitely checking out the rest of her stuff!"

I thought I'd kickstart the weekend with a Giveaway, so I'll be offering up a couple of Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones Swag Packs over on my Facebook Page.  It will run from Friday through Sunday.

If you've liked my page, but aren't seeing my posts (thanks to Facebook's annoying algorithms), you're welcome to send a friend request to and/or follow my Personal Profile.  I usually mention all of my author page giveaways there (as well as the latest bits of news), so you'll be less likely to miss them.  Until then, here are some of the more popular posts you may have missed:

Some of these are older, because I forgot to mention them in my last blog post.  I also shared some videos that were well-liked, but can't remember how to give you a link to the videos on my page.  LOL.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Today I thought I'd share a quote from Rendezvous with Yesterday that Cyn mentioned in her review over at Book Munchies.  Robert (the hero) is speaking to Bethany (the heroine):

"'Tis necessary, this bra?" he asked cautiously.

LOL.  I love these two together.

It looks like I won't have time to start my newsletter until this summer.  I'm really trying to devote all the time I can to finishing Aidan's story.  So, for the time being, I'll continue to blog whenever I get a chance.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Latest News and Giveaways

Happy Friday!!  Sorry for the long hiatus.  Whatever nasty bug is going around has been making its way through the family.  I was down with it for a couple of weeks.  And I've been hard at work on Aidan's story (Immortal Guardians Book 7).  I'm really enjoying it.  Aidan and his heroine . . . and Sheldon, of course . . . have been making me laugh quite a bit.  And I already have favorite quotes and scenes I can't wait to share with you.  :-)

The most frequently asked question I've received of late is:

Q:  When will Aidan's book release?

A:  Right now I'm estimating late summer.  When I have the exact date, I'll announce it on my website, Facebook page, here or in my newsletter if it's up and running, etc.

Have you heard about The Romance Reviews 6th Anniversary Party?  Over 300 authors are participating and giving away over 300 prizes.  The Grand Prize is a $50 gift card.  I've already given away a couple of books.  But there's still a chance to win another.

Join the fun at The Romance Reviews on Thursday, March 30th, answer a quick question about A Sorceress of His Own, and you'll be entered to win a signed paperback copy + an Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones Swag Pack.

Speaking of A Sorceress of His Own, some great reviews have rolled in for it in recent weeks.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday.  For today's selection I've chosen a quote from Rendezvous with Yesterday that features Robert and Beth (the hero and heroine) as well as Dillon and Alyssa (the hero and heroine from A Sorceress of His Own).

Ian, by the way, is Dillon and Alyssa's very young son and loves to engage in mock battles with a little wooden sword.  :-)

Please, call me Beth.”

“Then you must call me Alyssa.”  She smiled.  “I wish I could have been here to see Sir Faudron and Sir Stephen’s expressions.”

They turned as one to look across the hall at Stephen just as Ian’s sword hit Stephen squarely in the groin.  Dropping his own sword, the irascible warrior slammed his knees together, cupped himself with both hands, and—whimpering—toppled over onto the floor.

Robert and Dillon both winced.

Beth pursed her lips.  “Too bad he wasn’t still wearing his armor.”

Michael and the other men in the great hall found it wildly amusing, their laughter swelling and echoing off the walls.

Alyssa narrowed her eyes at Dillon.  “Do not dare laugh.”

“I would not,” he said with a grimace.  “Ian has done the same to me on numerous occasions.”

Robert grunted.  “I will not ask if Alyssa healed you.”

Alyssa’s cheeks flushed while Dillon donned a naughty grin.

News, a Giveaway, and a Favorite Quote

Happy Friday!  It looks like a lot of us experienced some pretty wild weather this week.  I hope you all stayed safe.  It stormed for hours here a few days ago.  You know how much I love thunderstorms.  The noisier the better.  And this one was pretty noisy.  So I had a great writing day.  More than one actually, since it rained the next day as well.  I don't know what it is about storms, but they really spark my creativity.

I'm very happy with the way Aidan's book is coming along.  Aidan and his heroine are entertaining me as much as Ethan and Heather did in Shadows Strike.  :-)  And some very interesting things are brewing in the Immortal Guardians world.

Pretty cryptic, right?  ๐Ÿ˜€  I know.  I'm rather obsessive when it comes to avoiding the mention of anything that might be considered a spoiler.  I have some fun quotes in mind, though, for future Favorite Quote Fridays.  ๐Ÿ˜‰

Which reminds me . . .

A lot of readers have been asking if I have a newsletter.  I don't have one at this time, but—because of the many requests—was thinking about starting one.  I can't have both a blog and a newsletter, because it would take too much time away from writing.  So I thought I would ask:

Which do you prefer—Newsletter or Blog?

If you prefer newsletters, how often do you
like to receive them from authors?

I'm always interested in your thoughts.

Since Facebook continues to limit the reach of Author Pages, I've begun to mention posts here and provide links in case you missed the fun and would like to join the conversation.  Here are some of my latest posts:

I'll also be giving away two more Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones Swag Packs on my page this weekend, just for fun.  So if you'd like one, hop over to My Author Page and enter to win!

More fantastic reviews continue to roll in for Rendezvous with Yesterday.  I'm so glad readers are enjoying Robert and Bethany's story.  And I'm particularly thrilled to see so many readers who don't usually care for time travel romance giving it 5-star reviews.  ๐Ÿ˜Š  Here are a few of the latest on Amazon:

"Wow!  If you like time travel romance, you should definitely read this. It's so different than all the rest out there! I enjoyed it so much . . ."
— CharlotteSP

"Great second installment in the gifted ones series . . . Can’t wait for the next one."
— Katrina

"Dianne Duvall has created an amazing fantasy world . . . The whole series is absolutely captivating from beginning to end."
— K. Smith

"Very entertaining, loved all the characters in the book."
— Monica Lindemann

"This story was perfect. The characters were perfect. Can I please have my very own Robert . . ."
— Milagos

"Best book this year!  One of my favorites."
— cyn

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Today I thought I would share a snippet from Rendezvous with Yesterday.  If you're unfamiliar with The Gifted Ones series, Dillon and Alyssa (who can heal with her hands) are the hero and heroine of A Sorceress of His Own (Book 1) and Robert and Bethany are the hero and heroine of Rendezvous with Yesterday (Book 2).

Chuckling, Robert drew Beth up against his side and kissed her hair.  “The day has been a long one, love.”

“For all of us,” Alyssa added, kindly wiping the shock from her expression.  “May I congratulate you, Lady Bethany, on your victory over Robert’s men?  My husband told me of your contest.”

“Thank you.  And please, call me Beth.”

“Then you must call me Alyssa.”  She smiled.  “I wish I could have been here to see Sir Faudron’s and Sir Stephen’s expressions.”

Robert grunted.  “I will not ask if Alyssa healed you with her hands.”

Alyssa’s cheeks flushed while Dillon donned a naughty grin.

“Perhaps now would be a good time for us to retire to the solar,” Beth suggested brightly, hoping to alleviate the other woman’s embarrassment.

The others agreed, and—with lighter spirits all around—they exited the great hall.
