Favorite Quote Friday & 2 Great Sales

Happy Friday! I'm not feeling well today (I think I've picked up whatever flu is going around), so this will be brief. I have two great sales to share with you.

Kindle  Nook  Kobo  iBooks  Audible

Rendezvous with Yesterday, The Gifted Ones Book 2, is currently on sale in ebook for $1.99! The sale lasts through Saturday, December 2nd. :-)
Winner of the GraveTells Readers Choice Award for Best Historical Romance
Modern-day bounty hunter Bethany Bennett helps her brother track two fugitives to a forest outside of Houston, Texas. But what should have been a routine apprehension of two bail skippers spirals out of control and ends in violence. After Beth and her brother are both seriously injured, a mysterious figure suddenly looms over her. And, when the smoke clears, Beth finds herself not only in another place, but in another time.
As Lord Robert, Earl of Fosterly, attempts to identify and track down the nameless enemy who has been plaguing his lands and people with violence, the most peculiar woman stumbles into his path. Small, vulnerable, yet possessed of a bold, fiery spirit and wicked sense of humor, she persists in dubbing Robert and his men members of something called a medieval reenactment group . . . until she sees his castle and labels herself insane. It seems bounty hunter Bethany Bennett has come to him from the future, bringing with her laughter and chaos, swiftly winning the hearts of his people and inspiring within him a love he thought he would never experience again. But when Robert discovers a way for her to return to her time, will the love they share be enough to keep them together?

Good news for audiobook lovers or those who are thinking of giving one a try for the first time: Blade of Darkness is on sale for only $7.49 on Audible! (Reg. price— $22.04!) I have no idea how long the sale will last, so snap up a copy today if you like paranormal romance with a lot of action, passion, humor and romance
Return to the “utterly addictive” (RT Book Reviews), "fast-paced and humorous" (Publishers Weekly) world of New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall’s Immortal Guardians.
Dana Pembroke has been able to glimpse the future of those she touches for as long as she can remember. But she never saw Aidan coming. When the tall, dark Celt with the charming grin yet world-weary eyes walks through her door, the future she sees for him is one full of violence, danger, deception… and passion. Because amidst the terrifying battles that unfold in her visions, she also sees herself in Aidan’s arms and in his bed. Dana knows she should keep her distance, but the tender moments and laughter they share entice her even as she finds herself thrust into a world of vampires, immortals, and other preternatural beings.
Immortal Guardian Aidan O’Byrne has been hunting and slaying psychotic vampires for nearly three thousand years, so visions of bloody battles don’t trouble him. The battles Dana foresees, however, show Aidan’s brethren turning against him, so he can’t help but feel alarmed. While he spends as much time as he can with Dana, struggling to decipher her dire predictions, Aidan finds himself utterly smitten. Hope rises that he has finally found a woman who can banish the darkness and loneliness that plague him. But when vampires begin targeting Dana and a powerful enemy spawns chaos, will fate grant them time to find happiness together?

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Today I thought I would share a snippet of Blade of Darkness with you. Aidan and Dana are the hero and heroine. :-)
______________________________

Ethan, Heather, Brodie, and Ed all smiled when Dana and Aidan joined them in the living room.

Brodie crossed to Dana. “I don’t know how much you know about Seconds, but our job is to arm and protect the immortals we serve. In this instance, that job extends to protecting you, so if you don’t mind?” He held up a shoulder holster and weapons.

“Oh.” She had thought she would just be observing. “Okay.” While she held out her arms, Brodie fitted her for a shoulder holster he packed with 9mms.

Aidan’s brows drew down as he watched them.

“Is he not supposed to arm me?” she asked. “You look a little pissed.”

Heather laughed. “He just doesn’t like Brodie touching you.”

When Aidan didn’t dispute it, Dana smiled at him. “It’s not like he’s trying to feel me up or anything.”

Aidan’s frown deepened. “He’d lose a hand if he did.”

His Second laughed, unperturbed by the threat.

When Brodie reached both arms around Dana to secure a belt with a thigh holster around her waist, Aidan strode forward and elbowed him aside. “Let me do that,” he grumbled, taking the belt.

Brodie stepped back with a good-natured grin. “Yes, sir.”

Dana watched Aidan as he buckled the belt around her waist, then knelt and went to work, tying the bottom of the holster around her thigh.

He was jealous and didn’t like that he was jealous. Dana didn’t need be telepathic to glean that or to suspect that that was why he wouldn’t meet her eyes.

When at last he did, she grinned. “You are too adorable.”

His soft lips turned up in a sheepish smile. “Sorry about that. Jealousy is new to me. I vow I’ll work on it.”

Dana combed her fingers through his soft, thick, wavy hair. “I don’t mind. I think it’s cute.”

Immortal Guardians Monday—Giveaway, News & Excerpt

Happy Monday! I admit I've never been fond of Monday's, so that's not a phrase I've used very often. But I'm determined to make this a better week than last week and I have exciting news to share with you!

(If you're on my Street Team, you've already heard this.)

When Blade of Darkness released, the two questions I was asked the most were Who will the next book be about? and When will Seth get his own book? I happily told everyone that Seth's book would be the next full-length novel released in the series, but that there might be a novella between now and then. Well, now I can tell you that . . .

There will definitely be a novella between now and then and I'm VERY excited about it! This story has been rambling around in my imagination for quite a while now. And when I published Aidan's book, this story just leapt forward, grabbed me and insisted I tell it next. I don't think I've ever written so fast before. I've had some really fantastic writing days and hope to finish the first draft soon. I'm going to keep the hero and heroine a secret, though, until I reveal the blurb. ;-)

For those who wished my first two novellas had been longer and had been released as individual paperbacks, I have more good news! Because the first two novellas were traditionally published, I had to adhere to a strict word count and was supposed to keep it below 100 pages. This one, however, I will indie publish, so I can make it as long as I want. And it's looking like the manuscript will come in at well over 200 pages. Woohoo!! It will also release in ebook and trade paperback. I'll let you know a little bit later whether or not it will release in audiobook, too. :-)

If you'd like to find some new favorite books and enter to win lots of prizes, Night Owl Reviews is hosting the Winter Wonderland Reader Scavenger Hunt. Many of you mentioned enjoying the last scavenger hunt, so I thought I'd do it again and am participating alongside 32 other authors. The hunt begins today and lasts through December 13th. And 118 Winners will be awarded $825 in prizes. I hope you'll join the fun! You can do so HERE.

You may have noticed I haven't been posting as often and have missed quite a few Favorite Quote Friday posts. Sorry about that. I've been spending less time online and more time writing furiously on this latest story. :-) So I thought I would share an excerpt of Blade of Darkness today. It features Aidan and Dana (the hero and heroine), as well as Ethan and Heather (hero and heroine of Shadows Strike), and is told from Dana's point of view:
_________________________________

“Heather,” Aidan murmured, “I’d like you to remain here on the roof with Dana while Ethan and I take care of the vampires.”

Heather’s face darkened with a belligerent frown. “Are you ordering me to stay here because I’m a girl?”

Aidan’s eyebrows flew up. “No,” he responded with obvious surprise. “I want you to stay here and guard Dana because you match me in strength and speed. She’ll be safer with you.”

Ethan nodded.

“Oh.” Heather sent Aidan an apologetic smile. “Sorry. Force of habit. I have to deal with a lot of good ol’ boys in law enforcement agencies and that run along and play, little girl, while the men take care of business attitude has gotten old.”

Ethan grinned. “I keep trying to tell you, honey, immortal males aren’t stupid. We love strong women.”

Aidan smiled at Dana. “We really do.” And the affection that accompanied his words as he stared down at her made warmth unfurl inside her.

“All right, all right,” Heather said, waving her hands at Aidan. “Don’t get all goo-goo eyed. You boys have work to do. Get moving.”

Laughing, Aidan leaned down and brushed a quick kiss against Dana’s lips. “I’ll be back in a minute.”

Turning away, he joined Ethan at the edge of the roof. Then the two just stepped off and dropped out of sight.

Yep. My guys love strong women. And the hero in my current WIP (work in progress) is no different. ;-)

Have a great week!

Favorite Quote Friday—Blade of Darkness

Happy Friday! We had a stretch of cool days here that had me flinging the windows wide to let the breeze in. Sooooo nice. Alas, it looks like the heat is back.

For those who celebrated Halloween, I hope you had a fun one! We had some rain here, but it didn't seem to deter the trick-or-treaters.

Congratulations to the winners of my Facebook Halloween Contest:

Debbie K.
Selene C.
I loved the Halloween costume suggestions for Sheldon. Looks like a lot of you would like to see him in a kilt. If you missed the fun, some of the other costume suggestions for Sheldon were: Seth, Roland, a porn star, Dana with a tranq gun, Rocky Horror, Peter Pan, Hugh Hefner, and Robin Hood.😀 I loved them all.

I got a very nice surprise this week. Romance Rehab chose Darkness Dawns as one of their 11 Sweet and Sexy Romance Novels to Binge on this Halloween. Yay! I love Roland and Sarah. One of my favorite things about writing a series is not having to say goodbye to characters. And I'm really enjoying the latest developments in Roland and Sarah's story. 😉

Long and Short Reviews gave Blade of Darkness a fantastic 5-star review:

"Blade of Darkness left me breathless; every single feeling and emotion a story can evoke is brilliantly brought to life with an impact that left me clamoring for more. I don’t know how Ms. Duvall does it but she consistently delivers a high impact, thoroughly engaging story in each installment..."

You can read the Full Review HERE.

Blade of Darkness Was also nominated for Non-Erotic Book of the Month by Long and Short Reviews. There may still be time to vote. So if you would like to do so, you can vote HERE.

And great reviews continue to roll in for Blade of Darkness on Amazon. Thank you so much for taking the time to add one. I'm always so happy to see that readers are enjoying the story. :-)

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! For today's selection, I've chosen a quote from one of my favorite scenes in Blade of Darkness that features Aidan and Dana, the hero and heroine:
He wrapped his arms around her.
Still smiling, she slid her own around his neck.
“Still like me?” he asked softly, the glow in his eyes failing to hide the vulnerability that lurked there.
She nodded.
“You’re not afraid of me?”
“No.” Whatever his abilities, he was still Aidan.
Her Aidan.
Closing his eyes, he hugged her tight and buried his face in her hair.
“Thank you.”
Have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday — Blade of Darkness Excerpt

Happy Friday!  Can you believe it's October already?  We had the most beautiful gray, rainy day earlier this week.  You know how I love gloomy days. ☺️ Now everything is blooming and looks just beautiful.

I wasn't able to spend much time online this week, but enjoyed touching base with my friends on Facebook when I did. I think the most popular posts this week were about Sheldon. I don't know why he's been on my mind so much lately. LOL. It may be the many comments readers have made about his role in Blade of Darkness. I'm glad so many of you got a kick out of him. He seems to be an endless source of amusement for me. If you knew half the things he's done in my imagination . . . 😀

Speaking of Blade of Darkness . . . Thank you so much for the many reviews you've posted on Amazon and Goodreads and other sites across the net! To show my appreciation, I wanted to share a few snippets with you:

”Immortal Guardians Rock!—Great series! Strong male and female characters that form friendship under difficult circumstances and become family. Good versus evil, True love and some laughter. Can't wait for the next one!”
—Ms.Reads-A-Lot ★★★★★

”Just as good as the others. Suspense and surprise throughout the entire story. I can't wait for the next book. Loved it!”
—Michael Potts ★★★★★

"Amazing As Always! I’m never disappointed when I pick up a Dianne Duvall book but to read an Immortal Guardians Book means that I will be completely entertained, utterly captivated and definitely satisfied! Blade Of Darkness was perfect with just the right amount of romance, humor and of course it's not the Immortal Guardians if they aren't going out and kicking some major vampire booty."
Lisa ★★★★★

"OMG So Good!!! Funny, sweet, sexy, intense edge of your seat action. That's what we get from Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardians. Blade of Darkness is just that, and more."
—Susie ★★★★★

"Omg. I am speechless. This was such another wonderful book added to this already amazing series. I absolutely loved and adored Dana and Aiden. . . I seriously highly recommend this book and can not wait for the next one already."
Raveen Vann ★★★★★

"One of my favorite part about these books is that Ms. Duvall writes strong women. After all, all of the Immortal men LOVE a strong woman. I appreciate that they are not fainting, damsels with "rescue me" attitudes and each time they are told "wait here" and they move anyway, I appreciate them more. I thought Heather was my favorite until I met Dana!! She is fearless and freaking hysterical!!!!"
Joe and Mari ★★★★★

”This is another stellar installment for the Immortal Guardians series! Chock full of action, twisty turns, intrigue, enemies that just wont quit, heros that never give up, and, of course, our favourite Scottish Immortal finding his one true lady love, this book delivers in a HUGE way and I was sorry when it ended!!”
—Athena ★★★★★

Thank you again!! I'm so glad you enjoyed Aidan and Dana's book and appreciate the reviews so much. 💙

At the sound of the bell, Dana Pembroke turned around and felt her jaw drop.

Holy crap.

The man who stood just inside the door had to be three or four inches above six feet. His thick black hair was short and so wavy it almost curled. But it by no means lent him a feminine air. His strong jaw bore just a hint of a five-o’clock shadow. Deep brown eyes captured hers and sparkled with amusement beneath dark brows.

Because she was drooling over him?

She let her gaze dip lower.

What woman wouldn’t drool over him? He was freaking hot.

A black T-shirt stretched taut over broad shoulders, revealing a very muscled chest and thick biceps. Casual black slacks hugged slim hips, what she guessed would be a really nice ass if he turned around, and muscular thighs.

His lips stretched in a friendly smile. “Good evening.”

His lovely bass voice flowed through her like hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night.

Straightening, she struck a dramatic pose and touched her fingertips to one temple in much the same way Shawn Spencer did in the television series Psych. “Aidan O’Byrne?” she intoned.

His smile broadened, revealing straight white teeth. “Aye. Let me guess. You saw me coming.”

Grinning, she abandoned her pose and shrugged. “Kind of hard not to when you make an appointment.”

He laughed. “Would you be the charming lass I spoke with over the phone then?”

Damned if she didn’t feel a little blush of pleasure heat her cheeks as she strode forward and offered her hand. “That would be me.” And his accent was even sexier in person. “Dana Pembroke.”

He took her hand in his much larger one and brought it to his lips for a kiss. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

Blade of Darkness Excerpt, News & Reviews

Happy Friday!  It's been another exciting week!

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you for making Blade of Darkness a USA Today Bestseller!!!  I know this wasn't my first indie release, but it was my first Immortal Guardians indie release.  So seeing Aidan and Dana's story hit the list even higher than the previous books was both a thrill and a relief.  You've all been so supportive of my switch from traditional publishing to indie publishing.  That means the world to me! ❤️

And thank you for your comments on Facebook, on the Blog Tour stops, and in your emails!  I'm very happy that you liked Aidan and Dana together so much!  I love that the story made you laugh.  I'm also weirdly pleased that it made some of you tear up.  😀  With every book I write, I always have about half a dozen favorite scenes.  And I see many of you mentioning the same scenes and the same characters' actions.  Zach.  Roland.  Dana with a tranq gun.  😀

Thank you, too, for the absolutely fabulous reviews you've been posting on Amazon!  I've never received so many so quickly before!  I love that some of you mentioned liking Dana so much that she was someone you could see yourself being friends with.  That's one of the best things a writer can hear.  And reviews are important to writers.  They encourage Amazon to recommend the book to other readers.  They help new readers choose to give the series a try.  And, of course, they make writing worthwhile by simply letting authors know the story entertained you.  😊

I also learned that Blade of Darkness was Tantor Audio's #1 New Release last week.  So a huge thank you goes out to audiobook fans of the series!  I just finished listening to the audiobook myself, and Kirsten Potter did yet another amazing job narrating it.

Fantastic reviews continue to roll in on blogs as well.  Here are some of the latest:

Lucy Dosch wrote a wonderful feature on Blade of Darkness for Heroes and Heartbreakers.

Again, I love that Aidan and Dana's story made so many of you laugh!  Thank you, Book Born, for a great review!

Shameless Book Club gave Blade of Darkness a great review, too, and mentioned some favorite quotes.

Jeris Book Attic gave Aidan and Dana's book a fabulous review as well.  Her favorite quote in the book also happened to be one of my own. 😀

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  For those who haven't picked up the book yet, I thought I'd give you a brief excerpt (18+) of Blade of Darkness that features the hero and heroine:
_______________________________________

Smiling, she motioned to the bed. “You recognize this place?”

He nodded, his eyes acquiring an amber glow. “This is where we made love in your vision.”

Her pulse picked up. “So it is.” What the hell was wrong with her? She had just had the scare of a lifetime—two actually—but suddenly could think of nothing but the feel of Aidan’s hands on her, tugging her shirt over her head so he could touch bare skin, teasing her nipples and tantalizing her with his tongue.

Heat flashed through her.

“Shall I tell Heather we’d like another room?” he asked.

Dana shook her head.

He took a step toward her. “Do you want me to sleep on the floor?”

Again she wagged her head from side to side, staggered by the desire that suddenly coursed through her.

Aidan slowly approached her. “What do you want?” he asked softly.

“Honestly?”

“Honestly.”

“I want you,” she stated boldly. “Naked. I want to feel your bare body against mine.”

His eyes brightened with amber light. “Dana,” he whispered, his voice deepening as he drew close enough to touch.

“I think,” she said breathlessly as she tilted her head back to look up at him, “that I’m doing that thing where—after narrowly escaping death—you feel a sudden, driving need to reaffirm life.”

He settled his hands on her hips and squeezed as though he wanted desperately to let those hands go exploring and was barely keeping them in check. “Don’t tempt me, sweetheart.”

Easing forward, she leaned her body into his. “I’ll tempt you and more,” she promised, sucking in a breath when he slid his large hands around and down to cup her ass.

Both moaned when she rose onto her toes and arched against the hard length behind his fly.
