Shadows Strike Teaser, Giveaway News & More

Happy Friday!  It's been a hot, hot (did I mention hot?) week with triple digit temps and no rain in sight.  I spent much of my time inside, basking in the AC while I worked on my upcoming Shadows Strike Blog Tour and something else I hope to share with you soon.  ;-)

A Sorceress of His Own, the first book in my new series The Gifted Ones, released two months ago this week.  Not only is it still in the Top 5 on three of Amazon's Top 100 Bestseller Lists, great reviews continue to roll in.  :-)  You all are awesome!!!  Thank you, everyone who has taken the time to write a review.  I thought I'd share snippets from some of the latest on Amazon:

"One of the most enjoyable books I've read in a good while."

"I loved this story from beginning to end! So much action, intrigue, and hot romance!  Just the right recipe for a great read."

"If you have never read Dianne Duvall before, you need to IMMEDIATELY purchase everything she has written and devour it.  They're that good . . . Every single book surpasses the one before it, and A Sorceress of His Own is no exception."
—Daisy Marie

I've received the most wonderful messages and emails from readers, telling me that this book or that helped them through a particularly difficult week.  Those messages and reviews like these do the same for me.  I can be having the most stressful day, will see a review like those above, and will perk right up.  :-)  Thank you so much for making my first indie release such a thrilling and successful one.

Looking for some summer reads to take your mind off the heat?  I'll be participating in the Beach Reads in August Giveaway Hop.  It begins tomorrow on August 1st and continues through August 15th.  I'm sure my TBR pile will grow yet again, because the theme is books you just can't put down. :-)

For my prize, I'll be giving away a signed ARC of my next release—Shadows Strike—plus swag (lots of bookmarks, trading cards, and postcards).  So drop by and join the fun for a chance to win some great goodies!

For even more chances to win goodies, hop over to my My Facebook Page.  I need something to distract me from the heat and feel another flash giveaway coming on.  ;-)

And just a reminder:  If you're on Facebook and want to ensure you don't miss future giveaways, teasers, and more fun, select "Get Notifications" when you "Like" my page, otherwise Facebook's latest algorithm may keep me out of your news feed.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Less than a month to go until Release Day—August 25th!  Here's another sneak peek into the pages of Shadows Strike in which Heather (the heroine) is talking to Ethan (the hero):
"I don’t want to be the kind of woman who freaks out if we happen to run into one of your old girlfriends. We’re both adults. You didn’t come to me a virgin. And I didn’t come to you a virgin.”
“Oh, but you did,” he said somberly. “You swore you’d been saving yourself for me. That you had never made love before. Never kissed a man before.” He squeezed her hand. “That you had never even held hands with a man before you met me.”
Grinning, she patted their clasped hands. “You just keep believing that, honey."
I love these two together.  I can't wait for you to read it!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Shadows Strike Sneak Peek & Giveaway News

Happy Friday!  The days are really heating up here, and we seem to be plunging back into a drought.  So I've had to work without the wonderful rumble of thunder providing atmosphere as it did for much of the earlier part of the year.  Nevertheless, it has still been a good week.  :-)

A Sorceress of His Own, the first book in my new series The Gifted Ones, just received it's 100th 5-star review on Amazon!  Woohoo!!  Thank you so much, everyone who has taken time to write a review.  I'm so happy you're enjoying the story!  :-)  A Sorceress of His Own is also still in the Top 10 on three of Amazon's Top 100 Bestseller Lists.  You all rock!!

Fantastic reviews continue to roll in for my upcoming releases Shadows Strike and On the Hunt (the anthology that contains my Immortal Guardians novella Phantom Embrace).  To celebrate, I'm going to give away an ARC copy of each book over on my Facebook page this weekend.  I'll also throw in some Immortal Guardians swag:  postcards, bookmarks, and trading cards.  The giveaway is international and begins today.  I'll use to select a winner late Saturday night.  Good luck!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Just over a month to go until Shadows Strike releases!  I'm so excited!  So I've chosen another snippet from it that features Heather and Ethan (the heroine and hero) for today's selection:
At last she found a faint smile.  “Could you maybe not mention my dad while we’re both standing here naked?  I mean, I know I’m too tired to do any fun stuff, but . . . still.”
Laughing, he looped an arm around her and guided her into the shower.  “Yeah.  I didn’t think that one through.”
I hope you'll like these two together.  I had such fun writing their story.  :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Favorite Quote Friday: News, Reviews & More

Happy Friday!  Well, this week had a bit of a rocky start, but I ended up getting some great news that has me smiling as we go into the weekend.  :-)

Amazon  Nook  iTunes  Kobo  BAM!  Walmart

Shadows Strike, Immortal Guardians Book 6, received a fabulous review from RT Book Reviews.  Here's a snippet:

"As we learned in the previous chapter of Duvall's outstanding Immortal Guardians series, both humanity and the Guardians have more than vampires to worry about . . . Fans of terrific paranormal romance have hit the jackpot with Duvall and her electrifying series."
I was so thrilled to see this.  But the good news didn't end there.  :-)

Publishers Weekly gave "Phantom Embrace", my Immortal Guardians novella in the On the Hunt anthology a fantastic review:
"Four paranormal novellas, tied to their authors' series, explore very different ideas of love on the prowl . . .  Duvall's hauntingly beautiful novella, set in the world of the Immortal Guardians, portrays the deep love between two people who can never touch, with a wonderfully unexpected ending."
Hauntingly beautiful!  Isn't that sensational?  I really like Yuri and Cat's story, so I did a happy dance over this.  :-)

I'll probably celebrate the awesome reviews above with a giveaway or two over on my Facebook page this weekend, so be sure to stop by.  If you're active on Facebook and want to ensure you don't miss future giveaways, sneak peeks, and more, you may also want to Like my page, then (from the Liked menu) select Get Notifications.  Facebook only allows about 2-6% of people who like a page to see its posts in their news feed unless the page owner pays to "boost" the post.  Personally, I'd rather spend that money on giveaways, so . . .  :-)

If you select Get Notifications, you should see all my posts.  And don't worry.  I won't fill your feed with a dozen posts per day.  Writing limits my online time too much for that.  ;-)

I also got some packages in the mail to giveaway winners, reviewers, and some of my favorite author friends this week.  :-)  I can't wait to hear what they think of my latest Immortal Guardians stories.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Thanks to you, A Sorceress of His Own, the first book in my new series The Gifted Ones and my first indie release, is still in the top 10 on three of Amazon's Top 100 lists.  It also has earned 93 5-star reviews!  So I thought I would give you another peek into its pages today:
The men waited nigh the base of the castle steps when she emerged.  All were heavily armed and armored.  All eyed her warily, uneasy with the task they had been given—to guard a woman labeled Sorceress as she fled the keep in the dead of night.
Alyssa could not blame them.  The air was thick with menace, heavy with cloying humidity.  The moon had chosen not to bathe the earth with its illusory light.  In its place, a phantom fog danced around their ankles and wrapped skeletal arms around them.
Have a wonderful weekend!  :-)

ARC reviews have begun to roll in for Shadows Strike, Immortal Guardians Book 6 (which will release on August 25th), and they are fantastic!!  I'm so excited!!  Even readers/reviewers who haven't read any of the other Immortal Guardians books are enjoying it!  Woohoo!!  So I've been doing happy dances all week.  :-)  Here are some snippets from a few:

"I really enjoyed Shadows Strike.  It's an interesting and completely engrossing story that will have you smiling one moment and biting your nails the next . . . I highly recommend Shadows Strike and the Immortal Guardians series to fans of paranormal romance."
—Parnormal Kiss

"This was a new author and new series for me and I truly enjoyed reading it.  The characters were great and the storyline kept you reading until the wee hours os the morning.  I could not put this book down.  Im looking forward to going back and reading #1 - #5 in the series . . ."
—Jennifer Crump

This may be my favorite book so far.  It had everything I want in a book and left me so excited for the next one!  If you haven't started this series, get the first one and catch up!  If you have then you won't be disappointed in this book - it's a fantastic story with all the characters you love, plenty of action, passion, romance, a few answered questions and some exciting clues about where the series is going!  I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could."

Reviews for A Sorceress of His Own, the first book in my new series The Gifted Ones, continue to pour in as well.

Jessica's Totally Over the Top Book Obsession gave it a fantastic 5-star review.  In addition to the awesome quote above, she said:

"I loved Dianne Duvall from the first book of hers that I picked up, Darkness Dawns from the Immortal Guardians series.  With each book of hers I have read my love has grown, and this book is no different.  Dianne Duvall continues to impress me with her writing.  Wow did I love this book!!!"

ATTENTION BLOGGERS:  It's that time again.  Author's Taproom is planning my Shadows Strike Blog Tour.  The Tour will begin on August 11th and continue through September 8th.  It will include a wide variety of posts and a tour-wide giveaway.  If you'd like to sign up and maybe even get an ARC of
Shadows Strike to review, you can do so HERE.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  A lot of audiobook listeners have been asking if Shadows Strike will be available on Audible.  It will.  I don't think Audible allows pre-orders, but the audiobook (narrated by the talented Kirsten Potter) should become available on Release Day—August 25th.

I've also been hearing from paperback lovers.  Shadows Strike is now available for pre-order in paperback (as well as ebook).  I posted all the latest links above.  :-)  And I have another glimpse into its pages for you.  This scene takes place early in the novel and features Ethan and Heather (the hero and heroine) as well as Zach and Lisette (the hero and heroine of the previous book in the series, Night Unbound).  I'll preface it by telling those who haven't read the previous books that Zach has wings he can "tuck away" or make vanish at will.

Awkward silence engulfed them.
Ethan wasn’t sure he liked the way Heather was studying Zach.
Zach’s lips twitched.  “It isn’t what you’re thinking,” he told Heather, who blushed.
“What?” Ethan asked.
Zach nodded to the mortal in their midst.  “She’s still wondering what you wanted me to tuck away.”
Lisette and Ethan both laughed.
Have I mentioned that I love Zach and Lisette's role in this one?

Have a wonderful weekend!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Since both of the giveaways above are Immortal Guardians giveaways, I thought I would give you a peek into the pages of Shadows Strike today.  Here's a glimpse of a scene that features Heather and Ethan (the heroine and hero):
“Relax.  You don’t look a day over sixty.”
She burst into laughter and patted his knee.  “I’m just kidding.  You know you’re hot.
Ethan groaned.  “You’re evil.”
“And you’re tired.  Why don’t you sleep for a bit.  I signed the confidentiality agreement, so you don’t have to worry about me trying to sneak pictures of your fangs and calling all the news outlets while you rest.”
Smiling, he shook his head.  “And what will you do while I sleep?”
“Find a permanent marker and draw a mustache and bushy eyebrows on your face.”
He laughed.  “I really like you, Heather.”
Have a wonderful weekend!!
