Favorite Quote Friday: News, Reviews & More

Happy Friday!  Well, this week had a bit of a rocky start, but I ended up getting some great news that has me smiling as we go into the weekend.  :-)

Shadows Strike, Immortal Guardians Book 6, received a fabulous review from RT Book Reviews.  Here's a snippet:

"As we learned in the previous chapter of Duvall's outstanding Immortal Guardians series, both humanity and the Guardians have more than vampires to worry about . . . Fans of terrific paranormal romance have hit the jackpot with Duvall and her electrifying series."
I was so thrilled to see this.  But the good news didn't end there.  :-)

Publishers Weekly gave "Phantom Embrace", my Immortal Guardians novella in the On the Hunt anthology a fantastic review:
"Four paranormal novellas, tied to their authors' series, explore very different ideas of love on the prowl . . .  Duvall's hauntingly beautiful novella, set in the world of the Immortal Guardians, portrays the deep love between two people who can never touch, with a wonderfully unexpected ending."
Hauntingly beautiful!  Isn't that sensational?  I really like Yuri and Cat's story, so I did a happy dance over this.  :-)

I'll probably celebrate the awesome reviews above with a giveaway or two over on my Facebook page this weekend, so be sure to stop by.  If you're active on Facebook and want to ensure you don't miss future giveaways, sneak peeks, and more, you may also want to Like my page, then (from the Liked menu) select Get Notifications.  Facebook only allows about 2-6% of people who like a page to see its posts in their news feed unless the page owner pays to "boost" the post.  Personally, I'd rather spend that money on giveaways, so . . .  :-)

If you select Get Notifications, you should see all my posts.  And don't worry.  I won't fill your feed with a dozen posts per day.  Writing limits my online time too much for that.  ;-)

I also got some packages in the mail to giveaway winners, reviewers, and some of my favorite author friends this week.  :-)  I can't wait to hear what they think of my latest Immortal Guardians stories.

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Thanks to you, A Sorceress of His Own, the first book in my new series The Gifted Ones and my first indie release, is still in the top 10 on three of Amazon's Top 100 lists.  It also has earned 93 5-star reviews!  So I thought I would give you another peek into its pages today:
The men waited nigh the base of the castle steps when she emerged.  All were heavily armed and armored.  All eyed her warily, uneasy with the task they had been given—to guard a woman labeled Sorceress as she fled the keep in the dead of night.
Alyssa could not blame them.  The air was thick with menace, heavy with cloying humidity.  The moon had chosen not to bathe the earth with its illusory light.  In its place, a phantom fog danced around their ankles and wrapped skeletal arms around them.
Have a wonderful weekend!  :-)

Favorite Quote Friday #75

Happy Friday!  This has been an exciting week.  :-)

I received my Darkness Rises cover flats!  Woohoo!  Here's the back cover blurb:

Dianne Duvall returns to the world of the Immortal Guardians, where danger — and desire — make every decision count . . .

Krysta is used to getting the drop on vampires.  Her "special abilities" aren't much, but the plan is simple — she plays helpless pretty young thing to lure them in.  Then her shoto swords come out and it's bye-bye, bloodsucker.  Until one night she finds herself with an unexpected ally.  He's a vampire, all right, but different.  Mysterious.  Handsome.  And more interested in saving her skin than draining it.

Étienne has been an Immortal Guardian for two hundred years — long enough to know that Krysta is special.  He can't stop thinking about her long legs, even more than her short swords.  Then he discovers the vamps she's exterminating have friends in high places, and the Guardians are in danger, too.  He'll have to accept Krysta's help to save them.  The stakes for a mortal are high.  But the cost to his heart might be higher . . .

Darkness Rises is the fourth book in my Immortal Guardians series and will be released on October 1, 2013.

Publishers Weekly gave Predatory (May 7, 2013) a nice review.  Here's what they said about my Immortal Guardians novella "In Still Darkness":

Readers will appreciate the rich characterizations and kick-butt action of Duvall’s “In Still Darkness,” as Richart d’Alençon, a 200-year-old Guardian, woos charming Jenna McBride with warmth and passion while keeping his vampire-hunting life secret

Predatory received a great 4-star review from Sofia Loves Reading or Happy Ever After is So Once Upon a Time:

"In my opinion Predatory had it all.  A little bit of action, romance, suspense, fantasy.  It's a worth reading book and I totally recommend it."

She gave my novella "In Still Darkness"  5 stars!:  "I loved this story!!!"

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Marcus and Ami have been in my thoughts a lot lately, so I thought I would choose another quote from Night Reigns, the second book in my Immortal Guardians series, in which they are the hero and heroine:

Something about that smile, the dark anticipation that filled his handsome features, produced a flutter of butterfly wings in her belly.

Have a great weekend!
