Favorite Quote Friday — Blade of Darkness Excerpt

Happy Friday!  Can you believe it's October already?  We had the most beautiful gray, rainy day earlier this week.  You know how I love gloomy days. ☺️ Now everything is blooming and looks just beautiful.

I wasn't able to spend much time online this week, but enjoyed touching base with my friends on Facebook when I did. I think the most popular posts this week were about Sheldon. I don't know why he's been on my mind so much lately. LOL. It may be the many comments readers have made about his role in Blade of Darkness. I'm glad so many of you got a kick out of him. He seems to be an endless source of amusement for me. If you knew half the things he's done in my imagination . . . 😀

Speaking of Blade of Darkness . . . Thank you so much for the many reviews you've posted on Amazon and Goodreads and other sites across the net! To show my appreciation, I wanted to share a few snippets with you:

”Immortal Guardians Rock!—Great series! Strong male and female characters that form friendship under difficult circumstances and become family. Good versus evil, True love and some laughter. Can't wait for the next one!”
—Ms.Reads-A-Lot ★★★★★

”Just as good as the others. Suspense and surprise throughout the entire story. I can't wait for the next book. Loved it!”
—Michael Potts ★★★★★

"Amazing As Always! I’m never disappointed when I pick up a Dianne Duvall book but to read an Immortal Guardians Book means that I will be completely entertained, utterly captivated and definitely satisfied! Blade Of Darkness was perfect with just the right amount of romance, humor and of course it's not the Immortal Guardians if they aren't going out and kicking some major vampire booty."
Lisa ★★★★★

"OMG So Good!!! Funny, sweet, sexy, intense edge of your seat action. That's what we get from Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardians. Blade of Darkness is just that, and more."
—Susie ★★★★★

"Omg. I am speechless. This was such another wonderful book added to this already amazing series. I absolutely loved and adored Dana and Aiden. . . I seriously highly recommend this book and can not wait for the next one already."
Raveen Vann ★★★★★

"One of my favorite part about these books is that Ms. Duvall writes strong women. After all, all of the Immortal men LOVE a strong woman. I appreciate that they are not fainting, damsels with "rescue me" attitudes and each time they are told "wait here" and they move anyway, I appreciate them more. I thought Heather was my favorite until I met Dana!! She is fearless and freaking hysterical!!!!"
Joe and Mari ★★★★★

”This is another stellar installment for the Immortal Guardians series! Chock full of action, twisty turns, intrigue, enemies that just wont quit, heros that never give up, and, of course, our favourite Scottish Immortal finding his one true lady love, this book delivers in a HUGE way and I was sorry when it ended!!”
—Athena ★★★★★

Thank you again!! I'm so glad you enjoyed Aidan and Dana's book and appreciate the reviews so much. 💙

At the sound of the bell, Dana Pembroke turned around and felt her jaw drop.

Holy crap.

The man who stood just inside the door had to be three or four inches above six feet. His thick black hair was short and so wavy it almost curled. But it by no means lent him a feminine air. His strong jaw bore just a hint of a five-o’clock shadow. Deep brown eyes captured hers and sparkled with amusement beneath dark brows.

Because she was drooling over him?

She let her gaze dip lower.

What woman wouldn’t drool over him? He was freaking hot.

A black T-shirt stretched taut over broad shoulders, revealing a very muscled chest and thick biceps. Casual black slacks hugged slim hips, what she guessed would be a really nice ass if he turned around, and muscular thighs.

His lips stretched in a friendly smile. “Good evening.”

His lovely bass voice flowed through her like hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night.

Straightening, she struck a dramatic pose and touched her fingertips to one temple in much the same way Shawn Spencer did in the television series Psych. “Aidan O’Byrne?” she intoned.

His smile broadened, revealing straight white teeth. “Aye. Let me guess. You saw me coming.”

Grinning, she abandoned her pose and shrugged. “Kind of hard not to when you make an appointment.”

He laughed. “Would you be the charming lass I spoke with over the phone then?”

Damned if she didn’t feel a little blush of pleasure heat her cheeks as she strode forward and offered her hand. “That would be me.” And his accent was even sexier in person. “Dana Pembroke.”

He took her hand in his much larger one and brought it to his lips for a kiss. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  Since Night Unbound featured prominently in my news this week, I thought I would give you a micro-excerpt from it today.  I try to keep my blog fairly family friendly for all the moms and dads out there who may have little ones perched in their laps or peering over their shoulders, so I'll preface this excerpt with a WARNING that it may not be appropriate for younger readers.  :-)

And, for those who haven't read Night Unbound, you should know that Lisette is telepathic, and I altered one sentence that I consider a spoiler in case you choose to take advantage of the sale and grab a copy.  ;-)  The excerpt features Zach and Lisette, the hero and heroine, and is told from Zach's point of view.
"I know you.”

He smiled.  She did.  She knew him better than anyone else in the world.  He supposed that should unnerve him, but it didn’t.

She leaned back.  “For example, even if I couldn’t feel how tense and bunched up your muscles are, I would know you’re feeling stressed.”

Stressed didn’t quite cover it.

Peeking up at him between her lashes, she drew a circle on his chest with one finger.  “Maybe I can do a little something to help you relax.”

Every muscle in Zach’s body tightened as she drew that finger down his abdomen and tucked it into the waistband of his pants.

“You know, I’m still not used to seeing you in so many clothes,” she purred, and flicked open the button.

Zach swallowed, already hard and aching for her.  Tonight he had dressed as the Immortal Guardians did:  black pants, black shirt, long black coat, wings tucked away.

“It’s almost like I have two different lovers,” she continued, taking his zipper in her hand and lowering it an inch, knuckles brushing the erection straining against the black material.  “A mysterious Other who comes to me bare-chested and embraces me with wings as soft as silk.”  She lowered the zipper another inch.  “And a hunter, who comes to me dressed all in black and loaded down with weapons.”

Hell, he’d come to her dressed as a party clown, if she would just finish lowering the damned zipper.
She laughed.  “I heard that.”

You'll see quite a bit of Zach and Lisette in Shadows Strike.  Until then . . . have a wonderful weekend!
