Reviews have already begun to roll in. And WOW are they good. I'm so glad you're enjoying the story! I admit I've been particularly thrilled by those of you who said you normally don't like sci-fi or alien romances but really enjoyed this one. Here are just a few of the fantastic reviews I've seen for The Segonian:

Paranormal Kiss gave it a glowing review.

____________________________

Caffeinated Reviewer gave it a fantastic review, too
.
Here's another quote from it:

"The Segonian by Dianne Duvall was one of my most anticipated audiobooks of 2021, and it delivered! Prepare for wicked banter, geeky discoveries, danger, and a sizzling romance as only Duvall can deliver."
____________________________

And NerdyNovelReviews gave the audiobook a wonderful review.

Here's another quote from it:

"Dianne Duvall has done it once again keeping me on the edge of my seat! .... Kirsten Potter yet again brings the author's characters to life by narrating in such a fashion that encapsulates the listener and makes them feel like they are right there in the thick of the storyline with these characters. Her tone is able to go from female to male easily, many different accents such as English, British, Egyptian, and more, and brings out the emotion the author is hoping to convey to her readers."

New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall brings readers the second stand-alone novel in a thrilling new sci-fi romance series full of action, humor, and happily-ever-afters.

Eliana's life has never been what one might term ordinary. At least, it hasn't been for a very long time. As a powerful Immortal Guardian, she spends her nights hunting and slaying psychotic vampires that most of humanity doesn't even realize exist. Then an opportunity arises that instantly makes her extraordinary existence seem downright boring. The leader of the Immortal Guardians asks her to guard a group of mortals who are embarking upon a voyage across the galaxy to the planet Lasara. How could she possibly say no?

In no time at all, Eliana is hurtling through space on board a Lasaran battleship and getting to know not one but two alien races. It's the most exciting adventure of her long life... until the ship is unexpectedly attacked. Amid the chaos and destruction that follow, she valiantly helps everyone she can before an explosion renders her unconscious. When Eliana awakens, she finds herself alone, floating in space, clad only in a spacesuit, with no ship in sight. Alone--that is--except for the warm, deep voice that carries over the comm in her helmet.

Commander Dagon and the crew of the Segonian battleship Ranasura respond to a distress call from their Lasaran allies and join a massive Alliance-wide search-and-rescue mission. He quickly achieves communication with a lone Earthling female and races toward her. Every time they speak, his fascination with her grows and he becomes more desperate to reach her before her oxygen supply runs out. Her strength, bravery, and humor entice him, even more so when she defies all odds and they meet in person.

As he and Eliana embark upon a quest to find her missing friends, a bond swiftly grows between them that deepens with every laugh and smile and tender touch they share. But they are not the only ones searching for Earthling survivors. When Eliana herself becomes the hunted and their enemies begin to close in, can the two of them fight their way to victory?

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Today I thought I would share another snippet that features Eliana and Dagon:
____________________________

Curiosity bombarded him. “How did you know he wasn’t alone?”

“Who?”

“Maarev. How did you know he wasn’t alone in the training room?”

She winked up at him. “I’ll tell you after I spar with some of your men. I love it when opponents underestimate me.”

He smiled. “I imagine many underestimate you. Despite the confidence with which you comport yourself, you appear very fragile.”

“But I kick a lot of ass,” she boasted with a grin.

He laughed. “I’m sure you do.” And he looked forward to watching her do it.

Thank you again for making this such an amazing Release Week. If you haven't read or listened to  yet, I hope you will enjoy Eliana and Dagon's story!

To celebrate the big release, I thought I'd share another peek into the pages of The Segonian that features Eliana and Dagon:

“I meant what I said in there. I won’t let him hurt you or the others.”

Eliana said it with such endearing earnestness that he wanted to draw her into a hug.

Instead, he arched a brow. “Because you care about us?”

A flush crept into her cheeks as she smiled. “Yes, I care about you. How could I not? You’re all so damn appealing.” She glanced at the closed door, then sent him a wink as she whispered, “But you’re my favorite.”

Leaning down until his lips nearly touched her ear, he whispered back, “You’re my favorite, too.” He pressed his lips to the soft skin of her neck. “And I plan to prove it again tonight.” When he straightened, she stared up at him with brown eyes that acquired an amber glow. His pulse leaped when she slid her tongue across her lower lip as though she could already taste his kiss.

He shook his head. “So damn appealing.”

“Awwww.” Smiling, she patted his chest. “You used an Earth curse word to describe me. That’s so sweet.”

He laughed. “Appealing and odd,” he qualified.

She wrinkled her nose. "Yeah. I was hoping it would take you longer to figure that last part out."

____________________________

Reaching across the table, he clasped Eliana's free hand.

She gave it a grateful squeeze. "Not much of a dinner companion, am I? I've barely said a thing all evening."

He smoothed his thumb across her soft skin. "Quiet doesn't trouble me when I'm with you, milessia."

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Today I thought I'd share a quiet moment that takes place between Eliana and Dagon fairly early in the book:

_________________________________

Dagon left his office and made his way down to the infirmary.

Adaos looked up when he entered.

Eliana lay curled on her side, covered by a sheet. Though dark wavy tresses hid much of her face, she appeared to be sleeping deeply.

“She still rests,” Adaos murmured.

“Her injuries?”

“All damage to her skeletal system has healed completely. Some of the damage to her musculature and skin has as well. The damage to her organs is still repairing.”

“Did you give her a silna to accelerate her healing?” Even with the serum, it would take Segonian warriors longer to recuperate from such wounds.

Adaos shook his head. “A silna wasn’t necessary. Her ability to repair and regenerate rivals that of the Sectas with their nanodocs.”

“Amazing.” Dagon crouched next to the bed. Reaching out, he gently drew the hair back from Eliana’s face and tucked it behind her ear. “She’s too thin,” he whispered, noting the prominent cheekbones. Though the burns had healed, some of the cuts and bruising remained. “Did you provide her with sustenance before she fell asleep?”

“Yes. I also fed her fluids and nutrition intravenously.”

“She doesn’t like needles.”

“She slept through it.”

Eliana’s eyelashes fluttered. Her lids rose, revealing deep brown eyes bereft of the amber glow. She studied him a moment, then offered him a sleepy smile. One small hand burrowed out from under the covers and stretched toward him. Soft fingers came to rest on his cheek and stroked the stubble there. “Dagon.”

Warmth unfurled in his chest at the tender touch. His pulse picked up its pace. “Eliana.”

It's time for the first Favorite Quote Friday of 2021! There are now less than three weeks to go until the release of The Segonian! I'm so excited!! Here is another peek into its pages that features Eliana and Dagon:

_________________________________

Dagon studied her, trying to ignore the unconsciously smooth sway of her hips and focus instead on the myriad of questions that mentally bombarded him.

She glanced up and caught him staring. “What?”

“You aren’t at all intimidated by my soldiers, are you?”

“No. Should I be?”

“They are all fierce warriors.”

She grinned. “I am, too.”

Had she been another, he might have laughed. She seemed so small and delicate. But he knew what she had been through, what she had suffered and survived. He’d read the accounts of the Lasarans who credited her with saving their lives. And she had incapacitated Adaos while so weak she could barely stand.

He thought fierce an apt description for her.

A Sneak Peek & Holiday Wishes

I can't believe Christmas is already upon us. This has been such a rough year for many of us. Yet every time I found myself feeling down or stressed, you made me smile. I hope you know how much I appreciate you and how much you all mean to me. I wish you and your loved ones great health and happiness both in this holiday season and in the coming year. 💖

We had another cold front roll in here. Wow, the wind was really howling! Perfect writing weather. 😉 I stayed up way too late working on my next manuscript, which will be an Immortal Guardians book. I'm super excited about it but probably won't be ready to tell you more than that for quite a while. (Whoever just shouted Tease, I heard that! 😀 )

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! I received the final files from my formatter and have been reading through The Segonian again, this time on my iPad. I think this might be the funniest book I've written thus far. There were an awful lot of LOL comments in the margins when my editor Anne Victory sent it back. So I don't think it's just me. Considering the year we've had, I hope it will make you laugh, too, and provide a fun escape.

If you're an Immortal Guardians fan and haven't given this series a look yet because sci-fi romance isn't of particular interest to you, I just wanted to mention that these books have many of the same elements my IG books are known for: action, humor, romance that is alternately sweet and steamy, fun secondary characters, and camaraderie. The Segonians really remind me of my Immortal Guardians crew, so today I'm going to give you another sneak peek that includes a few of them:

_________________________________

Adaos set his med pack on the floor and withdrew a hover gurney twice the width and length of his data tablet. Holding it waist high, he pressed a corner. The board extended until it was long and wide enough to carry a man Dagon’s size, then hovered in the air.

Eliana’s eyes widened. A smile lit her pretty face, supplanting the pain and confusion. “Cool!”

Adaos smiled and motioned for her to climb aboard.

She sent him a condemning look. “Oh hell no. I don’t need that.”

Dagon agreed. “I can carry Eliana.”

She scowled up at him. “What?”

“I’ll carry you so Adaos can transport the intruder on the hover gurney.”

She rolled her eyes. “My legs are fine, Dagon. My hand is injured. If Maarev hurt his hand, would you insist on carrying him?”

Srul no. But Dagon didn’t feel for Maarev what he felt for Eliana. Not that he could tell her that. Yet. While surrounded by his overly curious soldiers. That was a conversation best held in private. “No.”

Maarev nudged Eliana with his elbow, careful not to jostle her injured hand. “Maybe the next time you kick my ass, I’ll let him carry me to Med Bay.”

Her frown melted into a smile. “Maybe I’ll carry you myself, big guy.”

Laughing, Maarev glanced at the hole in the wall and shook his head. “I believe you could.”

Thank you again, everyone who has pre-order The Segonian. For those who missed the first book, you can find a Longer Preview of this one on my website. I've been so thrilled by readers' responses to it.

Many audiobook lovers have been asking when they can pre-order the audiobook. COVID-19 and the Holidays have both slowed things down, so it looks like it may take longer than anticipated for the pre-order to appear on Audible. I'll share the link as soon as I see it go up.

Take care! And Happy Reading! 💖
