The Lasaran Release Week

Happy Friday! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for making this such a fun, exciting, and awesome release week! I am so thrilled by your responses to The Lasaran and my new Aldebarian Alliance series! I was hoping you would like Taelon and Lisa's story. ๐Ÿ˜Š I admit I stayed up all night Monday night because some of you mentioned you were going to start reading it the moment the ebook hit your device and I couldn't wait to see your initial reactions pop up on Facebook. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you, audiobook lovers, for making The Lasaran an Audible Best Seller! Taelon and Lisa's audiobook hit #1 on multiple Audible/Amazon Best Seller lists, including the two shown above.

And the ebook lovers out there catapulted The Lasaran to the tops of multiple Amazon and other retailer Best Seller lists. Thank you, everyone who pre-ordered a copy or purchased a copy this week. Release Week sales are very important for authors, helping them hit bestseller lists and gain more exposure. The more sales and reviews a book receives, the more Amazon will share and recommend it to others, introducing it to new readers. ๐Ÿ˜Š

And the reviews...

Caffeinated Reviewer gave The Lasaran audiobook a fantastic 5-star review. You can read the full review HERE. This week has been so hectic that I just started listening to the audiobook myself last night and am really enjoying it. Kirsten Potter has done yet another stellar job of bringing the characters to life.

Book Dragon gave Taelon and Lisa's story a fabulous 5-star review, too. And equally awesome reviews have been rolling in. Here are a few from Amazon and/or Goodreads:

"Let me first state that I do not normally read sci-fi romance, so I was a little worried when I first heard about Dianne Duvall’s new series. Since I love her Immortal Guardians series, I gave this a chance, and boy am I glad that I did!!! I absolutely LOVED this book."
—Cynthia Trotman

"Just amazing. The characters are beautifully written being both memorable and engaging, the pace is swift and steady with nary a falter, and the overall arc of the story is sweeping, moving, and high octane. There's also plenty of humour to play counterpoint to the deeper and/or darker moments."
—Athena

"Tightly written, action packed, and with awesome character development, the author really outdid her previous great works with this one. Fantastic doesn't even begin to describe it!"
—LAM

"Again! Dianne Duvall has absolutely done it again. I loved this new world. Another laugh out loud, action packed book."
—Amazon Customer

"Whoa! Awesome book! More please! I couldn't put this book down until I finished it. Another Dianne Duvall literary masterpiece."
—Tiffany Nguyen

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday! Since I"m still celebrating Release Week, I thought I would share a brief excerpt of The Lasaran that features Taelon and Lisa (the hero and heroine):
_____________________________

“I would protect you with the last breath left in my body, Lisa.”

She believed him. Sliding her fingers into his hair, she drew his head down and claimed his lips in a longer, deeper kiss. His arms tightened around her. His tongue delved inside to stroke her own. Desire swept through her, heating her blood and driving her to fist his hair.

He groaned. And Lisa knew it wasn’t from pain this time, but need. He buried one hand in her hair and tilted her head so he could deepen the kiss even more. His other hand caressed her back and pressed her closer, reminding her that they were both naked.

What the hell was she doing?

She broke the kiss and stared up into emerald green.

Taelon affected her in ways no other man had.

“What are we doing?” she whispered.

A twinkle of mischief entered his eyes. “Breaking a number of Lasaran laws.”

Her lips twitched. “Aside from that.”

He shook his head. “I don’t know. I’m so drawn to you, Lisa.”

“I’m drawn to you, too.”
_____________________________

If you haven't read/listened to it yet, I hope you'll enjoy Taelon and Lisa's story. I really love these two together.

Many of those who have already read/listened to it have been asking when Book 2 will release. I don't have a release date yet, but I'm writing it now and am having a lot of fun with it.

Stay safe!

Return to the "utterly addictive" (RT Book Reviews), "fast-paced and humorous" (Publishers Weekly) world of New York Times bestselling author Dianne Duvall's Immortal Guardians.

He awakens encapsulated in dirt with no knowledge of how he came to be there. Riddled with injuries, he can remember neither his past nor who he is. Nor can he remember what he is. But surely no mortal man could survive being buried deep beneath the earth. All he knows with certainty is that the soothing voice and presence of the woman moving around above enables him to endure the agony of his wounds. And he will do whatever it takes to be with her.

When Susan first sees the old two-story house for sale, such warmth and longing fill her that—against all reason—she makes an offer. It will take years of hard work and money she frankly doesn’t have to fix up the place. So she can’t explain why she bought it. She also can’t explain what compels her to spend hours one night, digging in the basement until she unearths a man. A man who still lives and breathes despite having been buried alive. A man whose intense brown eyes glow amber with pain, declaring him far more than ordinary. Susan knows she should keep her distance. He has no memory and possesses gifts that would make most fear him. But as the two work together to unravel the mystery of his past, she finds herself drawn in by his teasing nature and tender touch. So much so that she loses her heart to him even as they find themselves hunted by unknown enemies who are ruthless in their quest to capture them.

Thank you, too, everyone who has pre-ordered the ebook or paperback. (I'm hoping to have the Audible pre-order link for you soon.) Pre-orders are so important to authors. So I wanted to show my appreciation by launching an Awaken the Darkness Pre-Order Giveaway that is separate from my Blog Tour Giveaway (see below).

Because some fans of the series who have won gift cards in my previous giveaways confessed that they really wanted the Immortal Guardians/The Gifted Ones prize pack, I decided to offer 1 Gift Card this time along with 2 Prize Packs instead of the reverse. And the Prize Packs are really cool. Here's a larger picture:

Each Prize Pack winner will receive an Awaken the Darkness pillow (my personal favorite), a signed Blade of Darkness paperback, an Awaken the Darkness coffee mug, an Immortal Guardians pen, 4 postcards, 12 bookmarks, and 12 trading cards. I do, unfortunately, have to restrict this giveaway to residents of the United States and Canada not because I don't appreciate international readers, but because I've run into difficulties in the past issuing gift cards and shipping prize packs to overseas winners. Sorry about that.

So if you've pre-ordered Stanislav and Susan's story, please give me a chance to thank you with awesome goodies:

The Immortal Guardians Read Along continues in my Dianne Duvall Books Group on Facebook. This is the first time I've done one, and I'm really enjoying it. :-) I have to say, one of the best things an author can hear is that someone enjoyed the series enough to reread it multiple times. I've been hearing that a lot lately from readers, including those in my Books Group, and just want to hug every one of you. That is so awesome!! I love making people happy and bringing a smile to their faces. Thank you for doing the same to me through your comments and messages and emails. ๐Ÿ’™

It's not too late to join the Read Along. Just hop over to the group and start playing.

Paperback

Modern-day bounty hunter Bethany Bennett helps her brother track two fugitives to a forest outside of Houston, Texas. But what should have been a routine apprehension of two bail skippers spirals out of control and ends in violence. After Beth and her brother are both seriously injured, a mysterious figure suddenly looms over her. And, when the smoke clears, Beth finds herself not only in another place, but in another time.

As Lord Robert, Earl of Fosterly, attempts to identify and track down the nameless enemy who has been plaguing his lands and people with violence, the most peculiar woman stumbles into his path. Small, vulnerable, yet possessed of a bold, fiery spirit and wicked sense of humor, she persists in dubbing Robert and his men members of something called a medieval reenactment group . . . until she sees his castle and labels herself insane. It seems bounty hunter Bethany Bennett has come to him from the future, bringing with her laughter and chaos, swiftly winning the hearts of his people and inspiring within him a love he thought he would never experience again. But when Robert discovers a way for her to return to her time, will the love they share be enough to keep them together?

+ Bonus Scene

A persistent pounding on the door heralded the dawn and roused Robert from a sound sleep.

Beside him, Beth stretched, then settled back into slumber.

Content to join her, he cuddled her close and sighed.

Boom!  Boom!  Boom!  “My lord?”

Robert groaned.

“I don’t think he’s gonna to go away,” Beth mumbled.

“My lord?” Marcus called.

Boom!  Boom!  Boom!

Growling epithets, Robert threw back the covers and lunged out of bed.

Beth squealed when the icy morning air hit her sleep-warmed skin.

Laughing, he tossed the blankets over her head, then drew the bed curtains closed and called to his squire to enter.

“Forgive me, my lord,” Marcus said upon entering.  His gaze darted to the concealed bed and back again as he closed the door behind him.  “A missive has arrived.”

Robert crossed to his trunk and retrieved his braies.  “From?” he asked as he donned them.

“Terrington.  The messenger insisted it be brought to you at once.”

As Robert reached for the rolled parchment, Beth poked her head through an opening in the curtains, clutching them closed beneath her chin.  “Good morning, Marcus,” she offered with a cheerful smile.

Marcus jumped and lowered the scroll, his head whipping in Beth’s direction.  Face flushing, he bowed.  “Good morrow, my lady.”

“Would you do me a huge favor and light a fire in the hearth?  It is frrrreezing in here!”

“At once, my lady.”  Tossing the missive to Robert, Marcus hurried to the hearth and began to carefully construct what Robert guessed would be a great, roaring conflagration.

Robert glanced over at Beth and fought a smile.

Her hair was loose and adorably mussed from sleep, her eyelids a little heavy.  The many kisses they had shared the previous night had left her lips puffy and rosy.  The coarse stubble that coated his own jaw had abraded hers enough to leave it a bit pink.

Just the sight of her made his heart light.

Forcing a frown, he nodded his head toward Marcus, whose back was to them, and motioned for her to duck back behind the curtains.  Even though her head was the only thing visible, he did not want any other male to see her so enchantingly disheveled.

A teasing glint entered her warm hazel eyes.  Glancing at Marcus to confirm he couldn’t see her, she suddenly flung the curtains wide, giving Robert a thrilling look at her beautiful bare body bathed in the morning sunlight that sifted into the room, then yanked the curtains closed again.

Robert laughed silently as she tucked the heavy material beneath her chin, her face alight with amusement and feigned innocence.

Setting the missive down on his trunk, Robert quietly crossed to the bed.

Beth grinned up at him, daring him to do he-knew-not-what.

Grinning back, he palmed her face and gave her a little push that sent her tumbling backwards amidst blankets and giggles.

Ensuring no gap remained in the curtains, he returned to his trunk and grabbed a linen shirt.  Marcus, he noticed as he tugged the material down over his head, concentrated overmuch on his task, adding to Robert’s amusement.

The Countdown Has Begun . . . and News Galore!

Happy Friday!  This is going to be a longer post than usual, because I have a lot of news to share.  :-D

ONLY 3 DAYS TO GO!  My time travel romance Rendezvous With Yesterday, The Gifted Ones Book 2, releases on Monday!  Woohoo!!  I'm already getting that excited, yet nervous feeling in my stomach that always hits just before a book releases.  :-)  I know some writers worry over sales and wait anxiously to see if they'll hit the bestseller lists.  And I admit I do hope to hit the lists again.  But that runs a distant second to my desire to simply see readers enjoy the story.  Waiting for those first reviews to roll in is always so hard.  LOL.

And speaking of reviews . . .

Look what came in the mail!  Aren't they pretty?  One thing I haven't done as a writer, but would like to, is release a book in hardback.  This is very close to that.  :-)  If you're wondering why it costs more than my traditionally published paperbacks, it's because this is a trade paperback that's 6x9 inches, so its pretty much the same size as a hardback, has better quality paper, etc.  I really like it.  And four of these are already in the hands of reviewers.

I realized yesterday that I have a lot of giveaways going on right now.  LOL.  And all of them have rapidly approaching end times, so here's a list:

I've launched a Thunderclap Campaign to help blast the news of Rendezvous With Yesterday's release out there on Monday.  Would you help me make news of its release roll through social media channels like thunder?

What is Thunderclap?  It's a website that allows people to pledge to Tweet or Facebook or Tumblr a message all at the same time on a designated day to achieve maximum exposure.  Don't worry.  You don't have to set your alarm.  Thunderclap does all of the work for you.  A writer friend once compared it to an online flash mob.  :-)  All you do is follow the link above, click on Facebook, Twitter, or Tumblr (you can support the campaign with one, two, or all three), and give them permission to post the release announcement for you.  That's it.

I'm thanking those who support the campaign with a special giveaway just for them over on My Facebook Page.  So if you have a minute, I hope you'll join the Thunder, then enter to win 1 of 5 Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones Swag Packs (10 bookmarks, 10 trading cards, 3 postcards) I'll give away.  The giveaway ends later today, but you can still support the campaign through Sunday night.

Monday's release means there are only 3 days left to enter my Rendezvous With Yesterday Pre-Order Contest.  I just gave away another prize:

Congratulations to Mary D., who will receive all of these Immortal Guardians and The Gifted Ones goodies.  Next up is a $50 Amazon Gift Card.  And if I reach my pre-order goal before release day, I'll give one lucky entrant a $75 Amazon Gift Card.  So if you Pre-Order Robert and Bethany's story (save $1 on the eBook if you do!), don't forget to fill out the Entry Form.  Pre-Orders are so very important to authors.  I really would like more chances to thank those special readers who pre-order the book.  :-)

There will also be Flash Giveaways on My Facebook Page that won't be mentioned here or on my website as I celebrate the release, so I hope you'll join me there, too.

I have an update for the audiobook lovers out there.  It looks like the Rendezvous With Yesterday audiobook, narrated by Kirsten Potter, will release a little bit later than the eBook and paperback.  It's scheduled for release on November 1st, but may release as early as October 18th.  I don't have an Audible link yet.  But I do have links for Amazon and Tantor Audio.

I can't wait to hear Kirsten's narration!!

It's time once more for Favorite Quote Friday!  I have another glimpse of Robert and Bethany, the hero and heroine of Rendezvous With Yesterday for you today:
His brow crinkled.  “Beth, there is no reason for you to be nervous.”
“Yes, there is.  I want to make a good impression.”  She grimaced.  “Or at least a better impression.  Was your brother totally offended by my looking like a boy and shaking his hand?”
“Nay, he was intrigued.”  Amusement sifted into his handsome face.  “And no matter your garb, you could never look like a boy, sweetling.”
Beth rolled her eyes.  “I was wearing Marcus’s old clothes.”
Robert’s face darkened.  “And do not think the men failed to notice how tight the tunic was across your breasts or how it and the braies hugged your lovely bottom.  Those who ran behind you will be delivered a grueling punishment on the morrow once I drag their weary carcasses onto the practice field.”
“They were all running behind me, honey.”
His eyes narrowed dangerously.  “I know.”
These two remind me a lot of Ethan and Heather when they're together.  :-)

Have a wonderful weekend!

Dianne
